Dyslexia Simulation: Walk in the Shoes of a Child with Dyslexia
Sunday, February 16
1 - 4 p.m.
Or
Monday, March 16
5:30 - 8:30 p.m.

Have you ever wondered what it is like in the typical classroom for a child with dyslexia? What is it like to be an individual with dyslexia to read, write and process information? You are invited to participate in a 3-hour simulation to discover these answers. The simulation will cover common daily tasks required in most classrooms and is designed to help parents, teachers, school support staff, administrators, employers, and anyone else interested in understanding dyslexia and those impacted by dyslexia. The goal is to raise public awareness about dyslexia by creating an interactive environment as close as possible to the environment a dyslexic learner faces every day.

Registration is limited to 30 participants per session and is intended for adults. While the library is typically closed on Sundays, it will be open only for registered participants of the February session of the Dyslexia Simulation. Register here for either session.

This event is sponsored by the Josef K. Barnhart Fund of the Tipp City Public Library Endowment Fund with the Tipp City Library, Codebreakers, LLC, and the Miami Valley Dyslexia Group. Thank you to these sponsors!

New AWE Early Literacy Stations
THANK YOU, MIAMI COUNTY FOUNDATION!

Our library was pleased to receive a $4,000 grant from the Miami County Foundation that allowed us to replace our two previous Early Literacy Computer Stations that were over 5 years old.

The new Platinum Early Literacy Stations (ELS) from Advanced Workstations in Education (AWE Learning) , Inc. were introduced in 2019 and are pre-loaded with 75+ programs covering literacy, science, math, writing, music, art and history. The Platinum edition has a new home screen and avatars and features 40+ coding activities, cyber safety, e-books, and handwriting practice, not found on our previous ELS computers.

The all-in-one touchscreen computers are designed for children ages 2-8. Parents will notice the categories of games to choose from have changed to Science, Technology, Engineering, Math, Reading, and Arts, showing the emphasis on STEM learning.

Stop by our library and have your child enjoy themselves while playing an educational game on one of the new computers!
