Islamic Center In The News

'Until the lion learns how to write, every story will glorify the hunter'

Popular culture is the sum of all stories being told in a society at a moment in time. The Muslim community in Cincinnati - now more than ever - needs to share stories
of inclusion, positivity and understanding. Our objective as the Communications team, is for ICGC to serve as a thought leader for building bridges in the Queen City.

This has been a busy week for Communications in light of the tragic loss of innocent life in New York City. ICGC was approached by several local and national news outlets for comments.

ICGC condemned all forms of violence, regardless of the race, religion or political ideology of the perpetrator or the victims. To date, we have received largely balanced and nuanced coverage of the NYC violence in the local Cincinnati press. This is meaningful progress and needs our continued investment in relationships with local influencers.

Looking ahead, the Communications Team @ ICGC is seeking bright, young, passionate members of the community to reach out  and volunteer as External & Internal Communications Leaders. You don't need to be a Communications Expert; we'll train you. All you need is energy and a commitment to build a better image of Muslims in Cincinnati.

Please reach out to Shakila, Tammam or myself if you're interested in helping give the Muslim community a bigger voice in Cincinnati.
