Support Your Library
No-Show Novel Night
Support your library by making a donation to the Wood County District Public Library's No-Show Novel Night! Even though this year’s Novel Night isn’t in person in the library Atrium, the purpose of the funds we raise will remain the same: to purchase books and other materials that will educate, inspire, and entertain our patrons. Your generous response will help to make that happen.

Here are some beneficial ways your gift can make a difference:
  • $100 for picture books to instill the love of reading in young children
  • $250 for "I CAN READ" books to help the newest readers begin to master literacy
  • $500 for children's fiction to excite young minds to consider new worlds
  • $1,000 for nonfiction titles that explore history, art, music, science, and more
  • $2,500 for fiction to while away days on the beach or nights by the fire
  • $5,000 for audiobooks for the busy commuter or those with vision impairment
  • $10,000 (or more) for all of the above, plus eBooks to serve a 24/7 reading demand

We invite you to support our No-Show event. To make a gift, simply fill out the secure form on our website. If you prefer, mail a check payable to the WCDPL Foundation with "No-Show" in the memo line. Mail your gift to the WCDPL Foundation, 251 N. Main Street, Bowling Green, OH 43402.
The Library in Your Life
Royal Reader Claire achieved the goal of 1000 Books Before Kindergarten last year! Every child who participates in 1000 Books Before Kindergarten receives a free book upon registration. At 1000 books, children will be designated a “Royal Reader” with a photo, their names added to the “Golden Scroll," and they will be awarded a gift book. Claire loves The Very Hungry Caterpillar and is growing her own caterpillars at home, waiting for them to turn into beautiful butterflies!
Tales from the Library
We're celebrating summer's fair season with this Tale from the Library.

Have you ever wondered what the Wood County Fair was like back in the 1800s, or how the fair we know and love came to be? We dug up some historical photos and information on the fair from our Local History Collection to learn more about the Wood County Fair. Take a trip through fair history with our timeline, detailing everything from historical events to fun facts.

About Tales from the Library: Every few months, we'll have a featured story, video, or activity for you to read, watch, or interact with. Meant to give patrons more information about their library, tell the library's story, and promote the many ways the library impacts our community, Tales from the Library is created every few months to showcase the many services, programs, resources, and stories at WCDPL. You can see our Tales from the Library through our newsletter or by following WCDPL on FacebookTwitter, and Instagram.

Virtual Book Discussion: How to Steal a Dog
Join the Children's Place for a virtual discussion of How to Steal a Dog by Barbara O'Connor on Monday, July 26 at 6:00 pm. In How to Steal a Dog, O'Connor tells the story of a young girl struggling to see what's right when everything else seems wrong. This discussion is open to families and students 9 years old and older.

Copies of How to Steal a Dog are available through hoopla and through the Children's Place. Registration is required. To register and receive the Zoom link, email woodkids@wcdpl.org.
Teddy Bear Picnics at the Carter House
Kids can celebrate summer by bringing their stuffed friends for a snack at the library! Children should bring their teddy bears or stuffed animals for stories, songs, and snacks with juice on the Carter House's front lawn on Wednesday, July 28 at 10:00 am.

No registration is required; join us on the front lawn of the Carter House, located behind WCDPL's Bowling Green location at 307 North Church Street.

Summer at the Children's Place
Between Tails & Tales Animal Chats, Teddy Bear Picnics, and Storytimes, there's so much to do with our Children's Place this summer. We've also been partnering with our local community to spread early literacy. Thank you to Bowling Green Parks & Recreation and WBGU for partnering with us during our Animal Chats and Outdoor Storytimes to bring even more fun and learning for our littlest patrons!
New Releases at Your Library
Looking for something new to read? Look no further than our Atrium and Circulation Desk. We have a new display for just-added titles, and you can always find new fiction, nonfiction, audiobooks, movies, and more housed in our Atrium.

Still don't know what to pick up next? Let our librarians decide! You can browse our librarian-suggested reads on our website, or fill out our Five Books Just for You form to make your next selection.
