MOA President Dr. Prokop Hosts Meet the MOA MSUCOM Event
Michigan Osteopathic Association President, Lawrence Prokop, DO, FAAPM&R, FAOCPMR-D, FAOASM, joined the students of the Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine (MSUCOM) for a lunch hour "Meet the MOA."
Dr. Prokop hosted the annual event that connects the MSUCOM students with the MOA, delivering an overview on the value of MOA membership and offering insight on the issues the students will face as their education continues on into the start of their careers. All 3 MSUCOM campuses (East Lansing, Detroit Medical Center and Macomb) were connected via a teleconference.
The event featured a special guest as the new Dean of MSUCOM, Andrea Amalfitano, D.O., Ph.D., sat in as the students asked questions of Dr. Prokop.

AOF Edward & Joanne Loniewski Merit Scholarship - $2,000
The AOF Edward & Joanne Loniewski Merit Scholarship was established by Edward A. Loniewski, DO to support an annual scholarship for 3rd and 4th year students enrolled at Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine. AOF's Edward & Joanne Loniewski Merit Scholarship Award will be given annually to recognize an osteopathic medical student in academic good standing with demonstrated leadership and financial need.
Eligibility
- Any osteopathic medical student currently enrolled at Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine (MSUCOM)
- Must be an OMS III or OMS IV during the fall of 2019
- Must be in good academic standing and/or in the top quartile of their class
- Must have demonstrated leadership within the classroom and community
- Must have a significant financial need completing his/her osteopathic medical education
Application Requirements
- A completed online application form - self nominations accepted
- A personal statement
- Medical school academic transcript from MSUCOM (official transcript preferred)
- Current Resume or CV
- A letter from the Dean of his/her designee as an official document
- A letter from the Director of Financial Aid
- One (1) letter of recommendation

MDHHS Update and call for comments
Rules for Reporting of Poisonings Hearing
A hearing regarding the Rules for Reporting of Poisonings Due to the Use of Prescription or Illicit Drugs has been set for Tuesday, March 12 from 1-4 p.m. The meeting will be held at the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services South Grand Building (Rooms 1K-L) in Lansing.
Comments on the rules may be made in person at the hearing, by mail or email until Friday, March 15, 2019.

12th annual Global Outreach Peru Program Looking for doctors
The MSUCOM's 12th annual Peru Global Outreach Program will be arriving in Lima on August 10th for a host of activities including traveling up the Amazon.
The program is looking for doctors who want to join in the this amazing experience. MSU will provide physicians, including residents, with health and liability insurance coverage during the Elective (August 10-24, 2019).
