Be a Poll Worker and Receive Compensation!
Do you want to earn some extra cash while also helping out in the elections this year? If so, become a poll worker for your county!

A poll worker is a person who assists the Board of Elections at the polling place on Election Day, by giving registered voters their ballot to exercise their right to vote. Not only will you be helping out your local community, but you will also receive compensation. Poll workers in Miami County earn $15 for training, and $124 for working the day of the election. Poll workers are assigned to work in the county in which they reside.

In order to be a poll worker, you must:
  • be a registered voter
  • complete required training every three years for regular poll workers and every two years for poll managers
  • attend the appropriate training sessions if you are a new poll worker/manager
  • have declared your politics (either democrat or republican)
  • enjoy working with people
  • be available for current election

If you are interested in being a poll worker, visit vote.ohio.gov or call your local county's Board of Elections office.

How to Be a Permanent Part of the Wall Art
Do you want to have your name painted as a permanent piece of the mural on the exterior wall of the library? There's still time! We are continuing to accept donations for the project as muralist, Atalie Gagnet, and her team, finalize the artwork on the exterior wall of the library.

This large art installation is partially community funded--THANK YOU to our supporters and individual donors who have funded this project--this project would not be possible without the support of the Tipp City Foundation, Tipp City Area Arts Council and the Tipp City Chamber of Commerce Teen Leadership Academy and more. If interested in learning more about supporting this project, contact our Library Director, Lisa Santucci, at (937) 667-3826 or director@tippcitylibrary.org.
Events Planned for the Whole Family
Halloween Fun for the Family
Making Halloween-themed plans this month? Don’t forget to visit our library and try the Spooky Silhouette’s Scavenger Hunt in the Children's Department and the Spot the Difference in the display case by the back entrance. Children get to earn prizes for participating!

The Children's Department has also added a new at-home activity to the Children’s Program webpage. The Halloween Scavenger Hunt is a fun car activity as you drive home or a great game to play as you walk through your neighborhood and find the Halloween-themed items on the list. Download the Halloween Scavenger Hunt from the Children’s Program webpage or pickup a copy in the Children’s Department of our library.
Take Home Activity Packs Return in the Children's Department
Back by popular demand, the Children’s Department will be making new activity packets available starting the last week of October and through the end of the year. We know our youngest patrons miss the Creative Corner and special programming at the library, so we’re bringing the fun to you at-home through our Take-Home Activity Packs.

These activities will be on the table in the Children’s area near the back entrance. Each week, families are welcome to grab one for each child. The packs range from craft projects with all of the materials included, to games to make and play at home, to activity sheets to keep your childrens' brains active. These activities are designed to give your child STEM learning, fine motor skills practice, and a chance to use their creativity.
Upcoming Programs for 6th-12th Grade Youth
Teens! Become a Poll Worker and Earn Extra Cash
Too young to vote but still want to be involved in the upcoming election? Become a poll worker through Ohio's Youth at the Booth program and earn some extra cash while also helping out your community.

If you are 17 years of age and a high school senior, you can earn around $100-$150, and can also receive community service hours, extra credit in school, and a boost to your college scholarships and applications. If you are not yet 17 years old, you can still help as an unpaid volunteer with the possibility of earning a school credit by working as line management, cleaning voting machines, or assisting election officials. Contact your county Board of Elections office, or you can find out more or sign up at VoteOhio.gov/DefendDemocracy.
Halloween Book Recommendations for Teens
If you can’t make it into the Teen Den at our library, you can still browse our Teen Book Displays through a slideshow on the Teen Program webpage. Click on the book cover that intrigues you to enter our library catalog. From our catalog, you can find out more about the book, and then place a hold on the format you prefer to reserve the title for pick-up.
