SPECIAL KABBALAT SERVICE
w/ Guest Speaker
December 14 | 6:30pm
Professor Joyce Antler, author of Jewish Radical Feminism - Voices from the Women's Liberation Movement, will speak during services and do a Q&A during the Oneg. We will discuss the role of Jewish women, and the connections with Jewish culture and values, in the women's liberation movement and second-wave feminism. All are welcome.
About the Book
Fifty years after the start of the women's liberation movement, a book that at last illuminates the profound impact Jewishness and second-wave feminism had on each other.
Jewish women were undeniably instrumental in shaping the women's liberation movement of the 1960s, 70s, and 80s. Yet historians and participants themselves have overlooked their contributions as Jews. This has left many vital questions unasked and unanswered-until now. Delving into archival sources and conducting extensive interviews with these fierce pioneers, Joyce Antler has at last broken the silence about the confluence of feminism and Jewish identity.

SPECIAL KABBALAT SHABBAT
~ 6:30pm
Join us for the start to Shabbat as we wecome Professor Joyce Antler.
SHABBAT
MORNING SERVICE w/ TORAH SERVICE
~ 9:30am
One thing that has become clear is that for too many of our students, the ONLY Saturday morning services they attend are for their bat or bar mitzvah. This is a significant problem, and to address it, we decided to schedule two school-wide Saturday morning school services during this school year. The first one will be this Saturday, Dec 15th, the next will be on March 16th. The service will be modeled on the b'nei mitzvah services, and will include a Torah service. Different classes are expected to lead various parts of the service, so it is important that you and your students do your best to attend. Although this is a school-wide service, everyone is encourage to attend to support our Religious School children.
TORAH STUDY & HAVDALAH
~ 4:00pm
Due to our extend morning service this Shabbat, our Torah study will be held later in the day and will be followed by Havdalah. We'll look at both modern scholarship, traditional commentary, and considering how these ancient texts can help us explore our own spiritual lives, our values, and what it means to be human. Please plan to join us!
