2021 Summer Library Program Coming Soon!

The Summer Library Program will begin on June 1 and continue through July 31. Although you cannot log any reading or participation in programs until June 1, you can begin signing up now for Beanstack.

Beanstack is the online program we use to register and track participation in our reading challenges and attendance at our programs. You can download the Beanstack Tracker App to your mobile device by scanning the QR code below, or go to our website and click on the Beanstack slide in the scrolling pictures at the top to register for a Beanstack account. A parent can open the account and then add each family member who plans to participate.

If you have participated in past summers or in the Winter Read Challenge and already have a Beanstack account, simply log-in to your account through the Beanstack slide on the website or go to your app and update your child’s ages and grades to prepare for this summer’s challenge.

Mark your calendar for our kick-off event on June 7 @ 6:30 p.m. The Tails and Tales Animal Expo will be behind our building in the parking lot as well as in the Alley and in front of our building. More information coming soon on this fun event for all ages!

STORYTIMES IN THE PARK BACK IN JUNE

We know how anxious everyone is to get back to storytimes at the library. If you’re planning your summer now, please reserve Wednesday mornings at 10:00 a.m. on June 2, 16 & 30 and meet Miss Heidi and Miss Julie at City Park in the green space between the tennis courts and the bathrooms. (June 9 and 23 will be our rain dates in case of bad weather on June 2 or 16.)

Children ages 1-5 years old are invited to join us for stories, creative movement to music, and active games as we learn about different kinds of animals for our summer theme- Tails and Tales.

No registration is required, we simply ask you to continue to follow social distancing guidelines recommended by the County Health Department. Bring a blanket or lawn chairs to sit on. Each family will be asked to sign-in on a clipboard and give the guardian’s name and phone number as required by the Health Dept. for contact tracing should someone get sick.

We are so excited to be able to meet with our youngest patrons again and have some fun! See you at the park, friends! Stay in touch with the library through our newsletter or website for details to come about storytimes in July.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED THIS SUMMER

If you have completed sixth grade and are looking for some volunteer work in June and July, the library is the place to be. It’s a great work environment- air conditioned, casual dress, variety of work to do, and you’ll meet new people. We prefer volunteers who are comfortable working around children and can catch on to new things easily.

Be prepared to wear a mask while working in the library or with groups at our programs. Please wait until May 17 to contact the library about volunteering. Pick up a volunteer application form in the Teen Area or by the main checkout desk. You will also be able to download and print the forms at home from our Teen Programs webpage

You’ll need to be able to commit about two hours a day at least twice a week during June or July.  If you’re busy this summer, we will also be using a few volunteers in May, just let us know on the application which month you’re available. Turn in your application ASAP at the library check-out desk.
