DO YOU HAVE STUDENT LOANS? Here's a Hot Resource!
NEA Member Benefits is thrilled to announce a new, game-changing solution for members struggling with student loan debt: the  NEA Student Loan Forgiveness Navigator.  The Navigator takes the guesswork and paperwork out of an extremely complex process as borrowers navigate the maze of federal teacher loan forgiveness programs. Borrowers can find out—at no cost—if they’re eligible for loan forgiveness and, if so, how much they could potentially reduce their student loan debt. See an overview here.

Hi all,

For the past two summers, two of our Region 3 Locals have participated in a Summer Organizing program that trained up and paid some Local members who developed a plan to TALK to people over the summer. Yes, they asked potential members to join, and they talked to members to find out stuff they cared about. It's been a pretty intensive 8-10 week project.

Maybe your local can't rustle up the resources for such an intensive plan. But here's what you CAN do: Sign up a team for our August workshop! We'll be helping our Locals develop a Back-to-School plan for membership. The one-day workshop provides tips, strategies, and skill-building, but also ample time for the team to make a plan for a fall membership drive.

SAVE the DATES: August 6, 7, and 8.

No, you don't have to attend all three days! The Region 3 workshop will be held on Thursday, August 8, 2019. But Region 7 in Brookfield, Region 5 in Baraboo, and Region 6 in Madison are coordinating our workshops (and quite possibly other Regions in the state as well). So, for example, if you live in the southern part of Region 3, a workshop in the Milwaukee area might be more convenient for you. Save the dates and stay tuned for details!

And, more important than saving the dates, start talking to people about this workshop. Get some folks to commit to attending. How do you find the people who are interested? Well, talk to them first. For ideas on the kind of people you are looking for, here's a great article: Where Do Good Organizers Come From?
