US Census Bureau Going Door-To-Door This August Through October
The US Census Bureau will soon begin address canvassing for the upcoming 2020 Census. This means Census employees will be going door-to-door in some neighborhoods to verify addresses and ensure the accuracy of their mailing list. All official Census Bureau employees will have photo ID badges as well as black canvas bags and laptops with the 2020 Census logo. Census employees will NOT be asking for personal or demographic information. They are verifying addresses, not conducting the actual census count which will occur in April 2020. Click here for more about the Census canvassing process and FAQs.

What is your vision for our District and for our City?
On November 15th, your City Council is scheduled to hold an all-day visioning retreat. The primary goal of the retreat is to establish a vision for our City focused on the next 2-5-7 years. I am inviting you to send me your thoughts about where we should be heading in all aspects related to the city that interest you - recreation, transportation, culture, commerce, etc. To start things off, this week I ask that you think specifically about our Barrel District. What do you value most? What needs attention? What is missing? Next week I will ask you these same questions about our city as a whole, but for now, let's just focus on the area closest to us, that we know best. Don't feel that your comments need to be lengthy, or even well organized. Just drop me a note (or notes) by email anytime during the week and I will review them all before our Council retreat. Without knowing what the response will be to this invitation, I'm not comfortable promising that I will respond to every note. But, if there is anything you mention that I don't quite understand I will get in touch with you so that I can be clear about your thoughts. I look forward to hearing from you!
In our workshop meeting this week the council received staff presentations on our School Resource Officer Program and our Commercial Solid Waste Service. You can view the video of this workshop HERE.
Lastly, I would like to call your attention to the Parks and Recreation Master Plan update that is currently underway in Glendale. Please check out the notice in this newsletter regarding several upcoming public meetings! Click

Get out and enjoy this great weather!
Have a Great Weekend,
Bart Turner
