Build Your Village.
"It takes a village to raise a child."
Apparently this truism, ‘It takes a village’ to raise a child is an African proverb that means that an entire community of people must interact with children for those children to experience and grow in a safe and healthy environment. ... This does not really mean an entire village is responsible for raising your children or the children of a crowd. (Billie Howard)
You can't heal your child all by yourself. You need a village of people there to support and help you, and to give you time and energy for self-care.
Villagers include extended family, friends, your child's therapist, your therapist, a respite provider, teachers, doctors, a psychologist, law enforcement officers, and your neighbours.
Villagers treat your child therapeutically, following the healing guidelines you have set in place for your child and your family. They surround you and your child with support and healing - not judgment and condemnation or misguided 'help'.
When your village is in place you will feel uplifted, supported, and able to care for yourself - making you 100 times more able to care for and heal your child.
