Junior Achievement's mission is to "...inspire and prepare every students, no matter what their background, to reach their potential". JA programs "equip students withA the tools they need to find their own success in our competitive and challenging global workforce".

JA will provide each volunteer with an age appropriate curriculum designed to provide hands-on activities. These activities teach students skills to help manage and control their finances. CCA is in need of two volunteers for each classroom.

The training date for all JA volunteers is Monday April 23rd from 5-6 p.m. at CCA.

Kindergarten and First grade volunteers will be working with students until their lunchtime at 12:20 pm. Volunteers for all other grades are needed in the classrooms until the end of the school day at 3:00 pm.

7 th graders will be off campus for JA Day at Junior Achievement's Financial Park . We are in need of 7 volunteers for 7 th graders.

A training day for volunteers will be scheduled in April. Volunteers will receive the curriculum and will be instructed on how to implement the curriculum in the classroom.

5th Annual Fun Run!!!
Friday, May 4th
We are so excited for this special event, and hope you can come out and cheer your child on! The schedule is below, and please note the fun run will begin one hour later this year due to the opening ceremony in the gym at 8:10 am.

9:00-9:50             Grade 3
10:00-10:50         Grades K and 1
11:00-11:50         Grades 5 and 6
1:00-1:50             Grades 2 and 4
2:00-2:50             Grades 7 and 8

On Wednesday April 4 th, we will have our PEP-RALLY, pumping students up for the fun run and giving them all the information they need for pledges and donations. Students will be coming home with “fun run packets” that afternoon. Parents, please review in case your student has questions or needs assistance. (Please note: this is the CCA Foundation’s only fundraiser each year…we try to raise big money for big projects to help subsidize our Charter School’s smaller budget.)

Thanks to CCSD, we have a beautiful new gym, and the proceeds will go toward furnishings for the gym and new administrative areas, as well as some classrooms. Proceeds will also be used for our ongoing technology needs.

For those who want to get a head start on donations, online giving for the fun run is effective immediately at this link:  https://soar-to-the-top-fun-run.cheddarup.com

WE NEED VOLUNTEERS FOR THE FUN RUN! You can work from 9-12, 1-3, or both shifts! Lunch will be provided for all volunteers. It’s a FUN way to earn volunteer hours!

Please contact Cyndy Holmes if you’re interested.

CCA Text Messaging Coming Soon!
Dear CCA Community,
As CCA’s Leadership Team reviews the comments and recommendations from the SAC survey, we are excited to implement some of your suggestions.

In the past, CCA’s text messaging platform was used only in emergency situations, such as communicating delayed starts and snow days. Due to overwhelming feedback, CCA will now utilize text messages to communicate upcoming events and other important information similar to the email blasts you’ve received.
We will still be sending email blasts and communicating through The Eagle, our weekly newsletter, but we will now also send text messages as an additional means of communication.

Thank you for this wonderful suggestion and we hope that this new system will be helpful.
Cara Henderson, one of CCA's current 1 st grade teachers, will be taking a sabbatical as she obtains her master's degree from the University of Oregon. We are so excited for the opportunities that this new chapter will bring in Cara's life. We want to take this time to thank Cara for the countless hours of dedicated service she has given CCA and we look forward to her return.

We are so pleased to announce that Alyssa Kapner, recent D.U. graduate, has accepted our 1st grade teaching position for the 2018-2019 school year. Alyssa spent five years working in early childhood education with an emphasis in Pre-K through 2 nd grade education. We are thrilled to have Alyssa join the CCA family.

TRAFFIC/SAFETY:

JHL has planned ahead to minimize the impact to normal school operations, including traffic. Morning drop off and afternoon pick up will not change. JHL has scheduled all deliveries and truck/equipment traffic outside of our drop off and pick up times.

JHL created a safety video for our website, highlighting the efforts JHL takes to separate students from the construction as well as their thorough background checks for their employees, and other important efforts being taken to ensure a safe construction site.

JHL, DCS, RTA architects, and CCA leadership meet and discuss new construction tasks that involve safety matters at weekly Owner, Architect, Constructor meetings to ensure the safest site possible.

TOURS:

We are working with JHL Constructors and DCS, CCA's Owner's Rep, to schedule monthly tours for anyone interested in walking the project to hear and see first hand the progress being made. These tours will be held immediately following our regularly scheduled monthly PTO meetings. The next tour date will be 04/20 immediately following the PTO meeting.  Remember to wear close-toed shoes to participate!
