On Tuesday, February 13, City Council voted to appoint Ms. Mulvey to fill the Ward 1 vacancy created when mayor Tera Radloff resigned her seat to be sworn in as Mayor. Ms. Mulvey's term expires in January 2020.

Explore the Games - Should Denver Host the Winter Olympics?
Denver Mayor Michael B. Hancock, with the support of Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper, has assembled a group of civic and community leaders from around the state of Colorado to determine whether Denver should submit a bid for a future Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games when the United States Olympic Committee (USOC) issues a call for U.S. candidates.
Denver's exploratory committee will, first and foremost, determine if hosting a future Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games would be good for Denver and Colorado. They are looking for extensive input from Colorado residents through online meetings and surveys. Learn more about the decision-making process.

Planning & Zoning/Board of Adjustment Vacancy
Help shape the future of Castle Pines! The combined Castle Pines Planning and Zoning Commission/Board of Adjustment currently has a vacancy and is accepting applications to fill the spot. The Commission is a seven-member board comprised of Castle Pines residents and plays a direct role in shaping how the City grows. The combined board meets on the 4th Thursday of each month.
If you are interested in applying for this position, please fill out the application and submit it by March 30 at 4:30 p.m. Applications can be dropped off at City offices, or by fax, mail or email to sharon@castlepinesgov.com.

The system also simplifies the process of filing a noise complaint, offering an easy, online options for residents who wish to register concerns regarding noise levels.

Stormwater Compliance for Construction Sites
Soil erosion and sedimentation are natural processes that affect all landscapes. However, these processes occur at an accelerated rate on construction sites due to activities that disturb the soil and vegetation. This results in the discharge of sediment into waterways and is considered a pollutant under the Clean Water Act. The most common cause of erosion is from stormwater runoff, therefore the management and regulation of stormwater runoff during construction activities is critical to the protection of Colorado's water resources.
Stormwater runoff controls at construction sites are mandated by the Clean Water Act. In Colorado, the EPA has delegated authority to the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE). CDPHE issues stormwater discharge permits associated with construction activities under the Colorado Discharge Permit System (CDPS). The City of Castle Pines issues a similar permit called a Grading, Erosion, and Sediment Control (GESC) Permit to control pollutants from construction sites. The ultimate objective of these practices are to ensure the protection of Colorado's waterways from construction-related pollution.

Run the Ridge 5K & 10K
Registration is now open for the June 24 Run the Ridge races. Choose between the 5K or 10K distance; both of which take runners through the beautiful Ridge Golf Course. Following the race, enjoy food, live music and an awards ceremony. Register online.
Noxious Weed Symposium
Noxious weeds are a part of the Colorado landscape, but how do you control them to protect the land they infest and preserve native plants, turf and crops? Learn more about the different types of noxious weeds, proper herbicide application techniques and the safe use of pesticides at the Douglas County Noxious Weed Symposium March 17 from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The cost is $15, and includes lunch.
