Chicago Fair Workweek Ordinance
The City Council is signing on to a new law that will make it difficult for employers to schedule flexible work schedules. This will be extremely difficult for small businesses who employ fifty or more individuals in the aggregate within a dwelling unit, residence, or any other location. Please join the coalition at
Work Your Way and write a letter to our local elected officials.

Owner and founder of
CRAM Fashion
(3331 N. Broadway), Marc Engel, grew up in a family of entrepreneurs. His grandparents owned a retail shop in his native Germany, where Marc knew he enjoyed the business of running a business more than most young children do.
In 1993, he opened his own store, a men's fashion retail shop - selling trendy clothing and accessories of the time. After several years, he decided to make the move to America to open (eventually what would be called) CRAM Fashion. The shop started out in Gold Coast, but eventually moved to Boystown. Marc felt Boystown would be a better fit for the eclectic, stylish men he was catering the business toward.
10 years since it's inception, CRAM has become a dominant force in the men's retail space in not just Boystown, but Chicago in general. Thanks in part to Marc's great team of personable stylists, his husband Stephane (CRAM's Visuals Manager), and their 4-year-old dog Dexter. Not only are the clothes visually exciting, so is the space itself. Stephane does a great job at coordinating the store's décor for different holiday seasons and store promotions. We even used his expertise for the Lakeview East Tree Lighting this past year!
Marc's favorite part of being a small business owner in Lakeview East? "It's a
fun, driven neighborhood with a lot of events happening and it's also great be in the heart of the LGBT community". One of the biggest events coming up, just so happens to be the CRAM Fashion 10-year Anniversary Party! The party will be next Thursday, March 21st and will feature a live DJ, cocktails, models, and a special guest appearance by designer Andrew Christian!
Not only is he leading the way at CRAM, but he's also leading the community as the 2019 President of the Lakeview East Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors! We are so excited to have Marc spearhead a lot of our upcoming Lakeview East initiatives. He's always been a big leader in Lakeview East and we know he'll be a great President.
Where does Marc see CRAM in the next 10 years? "Cram will have a strong presence in the fashion retail world, and we will be the # 1 destination for travelers". We think so too!
