company updates from 8-koi :: winter '19
What a great start to 2019!!

We're celebrating the Year of the Pig with its promises of prosperity and luck by being recognized as one of Florida's Companies to Watch. It's been an incredible experience for our team, and we are truly grateful to have been given the honor among such an esteemed field of business leaders.

One thing that I've learned in this process of growing and diversifying 8-koi is that it's important to keep the door open to new opportunities, and to embrace change as a learning event. I am so grateful for those of you who have taught me along the way, and I look forward to learning more with you as time goes on.

We are proud to extend learning opportunities to local high school and college students through internships at Headquarters, and we continue to offer dynamic career opportunities across the United States. We understand the importance of continuity during periods of growth and we make it a priority to invest in our community and workforce with professional development.

Our award-winning team delivers a dynamic range of healthcare, training, and construction capabilities with passion, excellence, dependability, and thoughtfulness. Our 'big fish' Les Daniels continues to keep abreast of trends and meet with folks at industry events and conferences across the region. We welcome the opportunity to visit in person, and are excited to share more about what we do in this issue of 8-koi kurrents.

We don't need the zodiac's predictions to foresee a year of continued growth, goodwill, loyalty, health and wealth ahead. I am sincerely grateful for our team, our customers, our vendors, and our community supporters and friends who help keep things going smoothly.

Feel free to pass this along to a friend, and we welcome your feedback at any time. Wishing you health and prosperity in this year and the next...

In partnership,
Inga I. Young

MEET THE TEAM :: Cynthia Figueroa
PEO-EIS Executive Assistant
Cynthia Figueroa-Lugaro joined 8-koi in August 2018 and supports the PEO-EIS PMW250 Enterprise Systems and Services in Washington DC. This is no easy task as the command oversees a portfolio of enterprise-wide information technology (IT) programs designed to enable common business processes and provide standard IT capabilities to Sailors at sea, Marines in the field and their support systems.

Since joining the United States Marine Corps at the age of 17 and serving a 15-year career as a Federal employee following active duty, Cynthia knows the drill well and says the best part of her job is the people. Today she helps her people coordinate VIP meetings, arrange travel, and track all-important travel budgets.

Before coming to 8-koi, Cynthia has worked as a member of the Inspector Instructor Staff for the 2dBn 25th Marines at Garden City (Long Island), Department of Homeland Security-United States Coast Guard in Portsmouth, VA, Department of Justice-U.S. Attorney's Office Criminal Division in Gulfport, MS, Headquarters Marine Corps (MCB Quantico), and the Department of the Interior in DC.

Proud to be a native New Yorker (born and raised in the Bronx), Cynthia has always valued education and takes her role as a single mother and model for her two daughters seriously. She graduated with honors from Liberty University Law School earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Paralegal Studies with a Minor in Criminal Justice and a Juris Master's Degree in American Legal Studies. Cynthia plans to continue her education at Liberty University and earn her PhD in public policy and economics, and aims to go on to attend George Mason University law school or Syracuse University Law School. She also holds a Master's Certificate in Federal and Commercial Contract Management from Villanova University.

Based on her time spent hitting the books, it's no surprise that Cynthia enjoys reading and learning new things. She stays active and looks forward to getting out in the neighborhood as a licensed real estate agent/REALTOR and a member of both the Northern Virginia Association of Realtors and the National Association of Realtors.

We're proud of Cynthia and the work she does for 8-koi supporting our military customers!

Space Coast Chapter of Women in Defense Anniversary Celebration
A wonderful time with friends and colleagues was had at the Space Coast Women in Defense 6th anniversary celebration and 2018 STEM award ceremonies. 8-koi is a proud member of SCWID and was pleased to sponsor the event on January 26 at the Courtyard by Marriott in Cocoa Beach. The team supported scholarship recipients by winning some nice baskets in the silent auction, and brought home shirts and a bottle of wine in the raffle. Always a fun date with cake, we celebrate the achievements of the Space Coast Women in Defense!
