I pray that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend the width and length and depth and height of the love of Christ which passes all understanding; and that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.
– Ephesians 3:17-19

December 2011

Dear Friend,

I am deeply grateful that you are touched and enriched by the Daily Meditations you receive each day from the Center for Action and Contemplation. So many of our readers write to let me know how valuable these consistent reflections are to them! This recent response from Bekah particularly moved me:

A friend of mine periodically forwards me your daily meditations. Though she is Catholic and I am Jewish, I enjoy immensely our conversations about theology and spirituality. Sometimes, what you write about touches in some way upon our own discussions, and I find your perspectives both fresh and interesting.

Today, she sent me your meditation about the image of Jesus on the cross. I have never understood how and why Christianity would have chosen this image of your beloved God being tortured as the major symbol of your faith. I have thought about this quite often, and have spoken about it with not only this friend, but others. However not until today, reading your meditation, did it make sense to me. I believe that I understand it now. Thank you.

You are a gem, Richard, and your wisdom and love flow far beyond the limitations and boundaries of any one theological framework. I wish you a Shana Tova. A good year.

Thank you for inviting me into your lives—into your inbox!—to share what is most important to me: an all-encompassing Love that knows no boundaries or barriers.  I am honored to participate in your growing understanding of God as the One whose compassion and grace calls us to such inclusivity and wholeness.

If you, like Bekah, treasure the Daily Meditations—a free gift the CAC offers every day—I encourage you to make a donation today. Your support enables us to continue this ministry at no cost to over 45,000 people worldwide!

We are grateful for your generous donation!

Gratefully,
fr. Richard
