At the North State BIA, much of our time is spent in the trenches, identifying the policy battles that need fighting in order to help foster a positive business climate in which the homebuilding industry can thrive. In that vein, our Government Affairs team, as well as the members of our PAC board, oftentimes find themselves shuttling from one hearing or fundraiser to the next one. However, like the title of this article implies, we also like to have fun in this association...all in the name of business development, of course.

That is why I wanted to briefly get you thinking about some of the exciting events we have coming up:

• In just two days we are thrilled to be holding our fall Breakfast Blend event, focusing on "The Next Generation in Home Building," which will include a terrific discussion with some of the rising stars of our industry;
• On September 12, we will hit the links for the BIA Pirate's Booty Fall Golf Tournament at the beautiful Winchester Country Club; and
• Three days after the golf tournament, its time to get dressed up for MAME 42, our annual industry awards event.

This is just a sampling of what's happening at the BIA this fall. There are more events in the works, including headliners, like the Regional Housing Forecast, that we'll be contacting you about soon. I would like to strongly encourage you to consider attending a few of our upcoming events. Growing your business can only happen when you grow your network and that's what we are there to do for our members.

On Wednesday, October 18 at 7:00 p.m., the Sacramento Kings will welcome MVP finalist James Harden, NBA All-Star Chris Paul, the Houston Rockets...and the North State BIA for their opening night.

We are pleased to be hosting an exciting pre-game BIA mixer event for the Kings' home opener at the Golden 1 Center. The 14 th Annual Trap Shoot was a success! Thank you to all of our sponsors, shooters, and volunteers for making 2017 a year to remember with a record 81 teams and 90 volunteers!
