January 5, 2018 18 Tevet 5778
|
We are halfway through the Math League competitions for the 2017-2018 school year. After three competitions, we are proud to announce that TABC is the highest-scoring yeshiva in all of New York and New Jersey. In addition, we are the highest-scoring school in all of Bergen County.

The 12th grade Matmidim took part in a ruach and Torah filled shabbaton at the house of their rebbe, Rabbi Kessel in Passaic. They davened a Carlebach style Kabbalat Shabbat together in Rabbi Kessel's house, followed by a seudah with heartfelt zemirot. The group then moved to a beit midrash across the street for an hour of intense learning. From there they returned to the Kessel home for a 2 hour tisch of singing and divrei Torah. They were joined by Rabbi Dovid Einhorn and Rabbi Scott Friedman, TABC rebbeim who live in the area.
The next day they all davened in one of the local shuls, after which they returned to the Kessel house for kiddush and "hang out" time. There was more learning before a wonderful lunch together. Seudah Shlishit was again a time for singing and divrei Torah by the talmidim. One of the local rebbeim was so impressed by how the TABC students carried themselves that he asked Rabbi Kessel which yeshiva in Israel they had learned in! The rav was amazed to discover that they were still in high school. TABC is proud of how much the matmidim program has already shaped its participants into bnei Torah and is confident that with a role model such as Rabbi Kessel as their rebbe, they will continue to grow.

A.P. Art History Visits
the Metropolitan Museum of Art
|
The A.P. Art History class spent
Wednesday morning at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, getting a chance to see examples of the works of art they have been studying all year. It was a whirlwind tour of many galleries, including The Ancient Near East, Egypt, Islamic, and European Painting. A highlight of the trip was the Met's special exhibition, "Michelangelo: Divine Draftsman and Designer," featuring 133 of Michelangelo's drawings, including studies for the figures on the Sistine Chapel ceiling (one of the 250 works of art that make up the course curriculum) and a simulation of the Sistine Chapel ceiling on the ceiling of the exhibition gallery.

TABC Parent Mark Rosalimsky Speaks to Economics & Financial Literacy Class |
What are advantages to investing in equities over fixed income vehicles such as bonds? How can investing in mutual funds reduce your risk level in "playing the stock market"?
What are the different roles of a financial analyst, a portfolio manager or a broker/ financial advisor?
These were just some of the topics discussed when Mr. Mark Rosalimsky, (father of Shai '18) a Senior Financial Advisor at Merrill Lynch visited with students in the senior elective Introductory Economics and Financial Literacy classes last week.
Although many of these topics are covered within the class itself throughout the year, it's always more exciting and informative to hear it from an expert in the field. The students posed many questions and voiced many opinions regarding not only investment options but also the process by which a portfolio strategy is matched up to the individuals' needs at each point in their lives. Mr. Rosalimsky offered tremendous insight into the process for selecting investments-client suitability based on time frame and risk temperament, and high growth themes based on a rapidly changing world. Mrs. Reichardt and her students are most grateful to Mr. Rosalimsky, for sharing his time and expertise with our students!

Snow Day Doesn't Stop the Learning at TABC |
The snow may have stopped us from coming into school yesterday, but rebbeim and their students still managed to share Torah together thanks to the wonders of modern technology. Students were sent online videos, shiurim and/or assignments by many of the rebbeim which enhanced their Torah learning on the day off, while still allowing them plenty of time for fun.
