In Recent News...Stamford's Mead Farm
There's little that can prepare a kid for the immense responsibility of owning a horse except trying it out.  And so there's Mead Farm, which bills itself as the city's oldest horse farm, nestled in the valley of a rock ledge on June Road. Mead  offers youngsters the opportunity to "own" a horse for a day to prepare for the real thing. It so happens that scraping hooves and mucking stalls is an effective litmus test for determining whether they are ready to permanently care for an equine, owner  George Mead  said, according to the Stamford Advocate.

"They walk through this whole process of what it means to own a horse, and you'd be surprised - one out of every 10 say, 'It's too much, let Mr. Mead own the horses and I'll take the lessons.' It becomes a deciding point for these kids," he said.
