Community Vision
|
10-year Community Vision
to the Chico City Council.
This vision outlines our standards and expectations for...
1. A safe community
2. Healthy city government
3. Thriving anchor businesses
4. Vibrant shared spaces
5. Premier facilities and community amenities.
The vision outlines common goals that will move Chico forward. Chamber partnership and membership now mean standing together to achieve a common vision for Chico that meets all of our expectations. We are certain that the Chamber, along with our members and partners, will make a difference in this community for the better, and it all starts with our Community Vision.

2018 has arrived and so has our annual chance to start fresh. I'm curious: what are your business goals for 2018 and how can the Chamber help you achieve them? This is what we're here for, after all: to help Chico achieve it's best and highest quality of life and to help businesses succeed. Drop me a note if you get a chance and challenge all of us to think bigger and dream a little bit more.
Start your year off at our
80th Annual Dinner
where we'll celebrate business and community leaders, and then join us the following week for our 2018 Business Summit & State of the City Address
on Friday, January 26
th
from 3:00 - 5:00 p.m. at the CARD Center. This event is free and open to the public
expressly
to encourage everyone to attend. It is our chance to lean in, listen up, and lift the voice of business so that it's heard far and wide.
Also this month, we're continuing our Retail Roundtables to help businesses and the police department confront shoplifting. Property crime rates are soaring and businesses are feeling the pinch - or the punch, rather - and there are best practices everyone can employ to protect people and property. Stay tuned for more information on preventing shoplifting in the coming months.
January also means a changing of the guard for our Board of Directors. Rick Anderson did a terrific job heading up our Board in 2017 and now we welcome Anastacia Snyder Lando to the helm. Anastacia is Executive Director of Catalyst Domestic Violence Services and is an active advocate at the state level. Read more about Anastacia here
and be sure to introduce yourself if you haven't met her yet.
Thank you for doing business in Chico and for making the Chico Chamber one of the strongest, most influential business organizations in northern California. Our community directly benefits from your investments and contributions which we leverage to make Chico the safest, most vibrant, premier community in the North State.
Looking forward to seeing you in 2018!

Partnership Perspective

Happy New Year! Last month we welcomed three new Community Impact Partners! A huge thank you to
Waste Management, our new Visionary Partner, and to
The Terraces Senior Living and
ServiceMASTER by Cronic our new Champion partners! Our Community Vision is to make Chico the safest, most vibrant, premier city in the North State, and I can tell you that is exactly what we are doing. I am a Chico local and I made the move back to Chico to raise my family because Chico is my home and I want my kids to grow up in place that maintains a special sense of community. I love that we still have the small town feeling as we have developed into a vibrant center for business, recreation and cultural activities. As a strong community we are doing what we can to keep Chico the place we love. In this new year we will be continuing our efforts and would love for you to jump on board! Call me at

Chamber Ambassadors
|
|
In my first message I wanted to express my appreciation for the opportunity to step into the Ambassador Chair position for 2018! Brett Sanders has been, and will continue to be, such a great leader within the Chamber and he has set the direction for the Ambassador program. We will continue to visit Chico businesses during our Team Chico and Membership Walks to learn more about what you may be looking for from the Chamber, what issues are impacting your business and how we can strengthen our partnership. I welcome you all to
reach out to me or any of the Ambassadors to learn more about the opportunities and events the Chamber offers to connect and engage within our business community.
This past year I joined
Northern California National Bank
as a Commercial Loan Officer and appreciate the team environment and the Bank's value of client relationships. The Chico Chamber, and our Ambassadors, are a dedicated team who also place value in relationships and a direction for our future. I look forward to being part of this team! You may contact me directly at [email protected] to learn more about the Ambassador program.

Hello and Happy New Year! My name is Kelly Gibbons, and I'm honored to be the 2018 YPO President! A little bit about myself, I work as an insurance agent for Farmers Insurance for my dad, Brad Jacobson's agency. I'm a local gal. I grew up in Paradise and now live in Chico with my husband, Bryan, and our German Shepherd fur baby, Sophie. One of my favorite things I get to do is volunteer with a wonderful program called "Reading Pals". Once a week I go to Chapman Elementary School and read with two little ladies who are below their reading level and help improve their reading skills. It's incredibly meaningful to me to be able to give back to our community in that small way.
Enough about me, let's talk about the YPO! We just wrapped up an amazing year under Danie Schwartz's leadership. Our December Leadership Luncheon was quite a hit! We had Ben Winters from
Transfer Flow, Inc. speak to us about what it takes to stay committed to a company, even through the inevitable ups and downs. I'm really excited about our January Leadership Luncheon with featured speakers Larry Ducommun and Maria Espino from
Toastmasters Chico. They will be speaking to us about a very common fear, public speaking, and how simple it is to prepare & give a presentation! It should be an incredible "It's as easy as PIE" event. See you January 17th at the Italian Cottage on the Esplanade.
Don't miss out, register today!

UPCOMING COMMUNITY SAFETY MEETINGS
|
|
Every month for the past 5+ years, Team Chico has conducted Business Walks in Chico to
find out what businesses need and how to support them with resources and services. These Walks spurred "Community Safety Meetings" between businesses and the Chico Police Department. We will conduct a handful of meetings in 2018 - please stay tuned for dates, times, and locations!
Businesses, property owners, and community members in the corresponding areas are welcome and encouraged to attend these free Community Safety Meetings. No RSVPs are required.
Shown above is a photo from our November 9th Community Safety Meeting at Round Table Pizza Clubhouse on Pillsbury Road focusing on safety issues occurring in the North Valley Plaza area. More meetings are planned throughout Chico business districts in 2018 and we welcome your participation!

COMMUNITY IMPACT PARTNERSHIP
Businesses making an investment in our community
|
|
In addition to traditional membership, we now have four tiers of investment which allow businesses to support their own mission through the Chamber's advocacy work, economic development partnership, and targeted activities that benefit Chico's economic health and high quality of life.
Businesses choosing partnership will stand with us as we do some of the most important and influential work being done in our community right now, and will make a lasting difference.
Every successful community is built on a foundation of successful businesses creating jobs and economic possibilities. And every successful business is built on strong and enduring relationships. Through your membership or partnership, let's keep Chico businesses and our local community flourishing.
