DCD Book Club
The next meeting of the DCD Book Club will take place on Monday, January 8, at 6:30 p.m. at Herrick House. We look forward to a lively discussion of the novel Manhattan Beach by Pulitzer Prize-winning author Jennifer Egan.

Named a Best Book of 2017 by NPR, the New York Times bestseller is the author's first historical novel. Set in the Brooklyn Naval Yard, it tells the story of Anna Kerrigan, who becomes the first female diver repairing the ships that will help America win the war. With the atmosphere of a noir thriller, the novel explores a world populated by gangsters, sailors, bankers, and union men during a transformative period in the nation's history.

According to the research shared in Chip and Dan Heath's new book,  The Power of Moments: Why Certain Experiences Have Extraordinary Impact, the moments you evoke are likely to reflect either peaks or endings. Peak-End theory explains that our memories of an event or a period of time are not shaped by the average of each moment of our experience; rather peak moments and endings hold the most sway in shaping our memories. Red and Lulu are a pair of cardinals who nest in a majestic tree in a yard. They enjoy all of the seasons, but especially the Christmas season when the family always trimmed their tree with lights. ...
