The Council voted, so now what?

The Transit Proposal Passed!

At the Monday, Feburary 27 Indianapolis/Marion County City-County Council meeting, the council voted to enact the 0.25% transit tax! This is a significant milestone toward putting better transit service on the streets in Marion County. So now what?

Marion County will be able to start collecting the tax this October 2017, and IndyGo can start making the local service improvements as early as 2018.
The Red Line is awaiting federal funding, but still on track to be open to the public by 2019.
IndyGo will begin engineering studies on the Purple and Blue Lines to get them "shovel-ready" as quickly as possible.

Michelle Poyourow of Jarrett Walker & Associates (JWA) will be in the region on March 9-11 to lead some educational transit workshops! All three workshops will be exactly the same, and they will take place in three different locations to provide some flexibility for people who want to attend.

Whether you're a transit fan or a transit skeptic, this workshop is for you.
Join us for an interactive and fun workshop on the basics of transit planning. There will be lots of time for questions and answers, and you'll walk out the door with tools to think about transit and its impact on your own community.
