Castle Pines Ranked 2nd Best Place in Colorado to Raise a Family
According to WalletHub's new analysis, Castle Pines is the 2nd best place in Colorado to raise a family. Researchers compared over 60 cities across the state, ranking each in 21 key factors of family-friendliness. A few of those categories included housing affordability, community attractions, and the quality of the local school system.

| Election Information
Ballots will be mailed to the homes of registered voters beginning Monday, October 16.
A 24-hour ballot box will be available in the back of the Castle Pines Library located at 360 Village Square Lane beginning October 16 until Election Day on Tuesday, November 7 at 7:00 p.m. Ballots received after 7:00 p.m. on Election Day will not be counted, nor will postmarked mailed ballots be counted if received after November 7.
The Douglas County Clerk & Recorder will have Voter Service and Polling Centers available for the following services:
- Registering to vote
- Updating voter registration
- Replacing a ballot
- Voting in person
- Dropping off a ballot

Winter is coming. Remember these snow removal tips!
Winter is just around the corner! As snow season approaches, we's like to remind you of some important tips:
- Property owners are responsible for any sidewalks abutting their property, so please clear snow from your sidewalks within 24 hours of a storm ending.
- Avoid getting plowed in by moving cars out of the street before a snow storm comes. This helps plows clear snow from curb to curb and makes for a safer community.
- If you do park along the curb, please park your car parallel to the curb, as opposed to perpendicular to it. This makes streets and cul de sacs easier to plow.
The City's Public Work's Department is responsible for snow and ice management on public streets. View street priorities and track plow activity during a snow event online.

Race Winner Donates Winnings for Trees
Mark Edson, MD, Castle Pines resident and winner of this year's nine-mile Run Wild race, donated his $500 winnings to the Castle Pines North Metropolitan District (CPNMD) to plant trees in Coyote Ridge Park.
CPNMD purchased two Northern Red Oaks and three Chinkapin Oaks with Dr. Edson's donation and contributed staff time to plant the trees along the ball field in the upper portion of the park, where they will provide shade as they mature.
Thank you to all the residents and visitors who made this signature community event such a fun and successful race.

Trick-or-Treat Safety
Halloween is right around the corner and is an enjoyable holiday for kids and parents alike. Here are some tips from the Douglas County Sheriff's Office on how to have a safe and memorable Halloween:
Accept wrapped or packaged candy only. Children should wait to eat candy until they get home and parents have had a chance to inspect their goodies. A parent or responsible adult should always accompany young children. Make sure to equip older children with flashlights that have fresh batteries. Only go to homes with a porch light on. Never enter a car or home for a treat. Remain on well-lit streets and always use the sidewalk. Report any suspicious criminal activity to your local law enforcement agency.

What is nutrient pollution? Nutrient pollution is one of America's most widespread, costly and challenging environmental problems. It is produced by excess nitrogen and phosphorus in the air and water. This excess nitrogen and phosphorus in the water causes algae to grow faster than ecosystems can handle. There are several ways residents can help to reduce the potential of nutrients getting in to our waterways.

Mayoral Candidate Meet-and-Greet
Would you like to make an informed decision regarding the City's government? If so, please join the Castle Pines Chamber of Commerce for a meet and greet with both candidates running for Mayor of the City of Castle Pines. This meeting is informal in nature, and will give residents an opportunity to talk face to face with the two people vying for the top position in Castle Pines government. Stop by on Monday, October 16 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Douglas County Libraries, 360 Village Square Dr., Castle Pines.
Bleeding Control (Tourniquet Training)
In light of the recent mass casualty incident in Las Vegas, the Denver Health Paramedic Association would like to offer FREE Bleeding Control (BCON) courses to the public October 23rd - 27th. The courses are scheduled 5:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. each evening. This new 1.5 hour course teaches participants basic life-saving medical interventions. Register here.
Trick-or-Treat Street
Bring your little ghosts and goblins to the Castle Pines Chamber of Commerce 11th Annual Trick-or-Treat Street on Saturday, October 28 from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. There are two locations this year: Castle Pines Parkway Business District and The Village Shops at Happy Canyon & Santa Fe. See you at this spooktacular event!

Get to know your local officers through Douglas County's Coffee with a Cop events! Chat with officers on November 8 from 9:00-11:00 a.m. and 3:00-5:00 p.m at Starbucks, 506 Castle Pines Pkwy.
Castle Pines Run Club
Are you a runner hoping to meet other runners in Castle Pines? Then join the Castle Pines Run Club! The club meets at Duke's Steakhouse, 363 Village Square, every Wednesday starting at 5:30 p.m. Runs are 3-5 miles long and runners of all abilities are welcome.
