From the Desk of Executive Director, P.J.Eucker, PhD
The Critical Importance of our School-Home Partnership

Our school's success is tied to our partnership with our families. We could not possibly provide the enriched academics and creative courses on our small state funding as a public school without significant family support of volunteer hours. One incredible example is our Chinese Guest Teacher Host Committee.

Middle School Updates
From the Desk of Middle School Principal
Leanne Weyman
Next week, during our Friday study halls, we will be starting weekly lessons that focus on character development for middle school students.  During our first class, students will take a learning styles quiz to understand how they learn best.  They will then discuss how their learning style can impact their success at STEM.  We are hopeful that students and families will find these lessons helpful.  Future lessons will focus on the four components of our formula for character: respect, responsibility, integrity and honesty. Topics throughout the rest of this quarter will include: Goal Setting, Organization, Problem Solving and Test Taking Skills.

CogAT Universal Testing Information:

In early September all STEM School students in grades three and five will take the Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT 7). This assessment indicates the level and pattern of cognitive development of a student in comparison to grade and age mates. These general reasoning abilities, which start developing at birth and continue through early adulthood, are influenced by experiences gained both in and out of school.
