Congratulations to this week's Heroes Bing Liu and Sammy Soyring! We hope you enjoy your up-close parking spot.
A Note to Bing Liu, 7th Grade Science Teacher:
"Mrs. Liu is my hero! She is an awesome example to the staff and her students of Godliness and humility. She holds her students to a high moral standard but also knows how to have fun. The kids are always talking about her enthusiasm and sense of humor. They love and respect her and so do I!"
"Mrs. Liu displays the heart of a servant at all times. She serves the students, their families, this school, and most importantly, God beautifully! She goes above and beyond on a regular basis, into the night, the weekend, even in the summer because she only wants to give her best. And she does! She has been amazing in our preparation for the exchange students from China. A great help and provider of wisdom, Mrs. Liu has helped in tremendous ways and stepped out of her comfort zone to do so-even helping lead chapel. But, her support, wisdom, and dedication with the exchange program is not a rarity but is how she serves and loves every single day! She is a blessing and a hero all rolled in one!"
A Note to Sammy Sorying, 4th Grade Teacher:
"Sammy, You are an amazing professional and incredible example of a godly leader. You are passionate about raising young men and women to know Jesus and understand the importance of leading by example. If we can't find you, we should look for you on the soccer field kicking the ball with your students. You have been a blessing to your team and have won the hearts of the MCS community. You are a true hero!"
"Sammy - I love how you joined the MCS team with the most amazing attitude ever. You are passionate and funny, and when I look at your students it is evident that your enthusiasm is contagious. Thanks for inspiring us each day. [heart] The 5th grade Team"

Difference Maker Opportunities in February
from our Community Connector Ali Bray
Greeting MCS Families-
We are jumping into February with the incredible Difference Maker Chapels from last month still fresh in our minds. The dialogue that has followed these events shows us that our students are growing in empathy and they are excited to live out this call to be difference makers.

Middle School Chapel With Our Friends
from Sunny-Bridge International Education
The auditorium was more full this week as we welcomed 34 student guests from China. They began their time with us as we begin every week together, in chapel.
We were also excited to have MCS alum, Ben Applebee, return to MCS as our guest speaker! Ben spoke of God as a relational God, and how he reveals himself to each of us through nature, through others, and through His Son Jesus Christ. He even shared this truth in Mandarin saying, "Shen is Guanxi", or "God is Relationship," or "神是关系". We know that God used the Chapel message to penetrate the hearts of our guests and our students! Conversations from that message continued throughout this week. We are thankful for the way God used Ben to speak truth to both our MCS students and our friends from Sunny-Bridge International! And we are thankful that God gave MCS the opportunity to share His gospel in powerful ways. We believe His kingdom will expand through this experience!
Our new friends from Sunny-Bridge International.
First Semester Report Cards
Report cards were sent home will all of our students today! Parents, be sure to check out your child's report card and celebrate their success on a job well done!

Shalimar Gathering - Friday, February 9th
Our third visit to Shalimar is almost here! Each visit, MCS students share the love of Jesus, learn from, and simply get to know our neighbors on Shalimar Drive just 5 miles away. We build bridges across cultures and connect over activities, Bible studies, games, and more! It has been simply beautiful to see God at work during this sweet time together. To come, fill out the permission slip and turn it in to Miss Seaman or Miss Peña on, or before, Wednesday, February 7th. We'll meet outside the MCS front office after school on Friday to head over to Shalimar at 3:15pm. We plan to be back at MCS at 5:30pm. We also utilize parent drivers, so if you are available to drive, please indicate how many students you can take on the permission slip.
Hope your child is able to take part in the amazing work God is doing through the MCS/Shalimar partnership!
