Re-Enrollment 2018-2019

Good Afternoon Mariners Christian School Parents,

While we are only half way through the 2017-2018 school year, January marks the season in which we begin planning for the next school year. This year we have seen amazing provision and affirmation from our Heavenly Father through students accepting Christ as their personal Savior, amazing programming enhancements to cultivate student passions, curiosities and academic excellence, and a historic Annual Fund drive that garnered an 83% parent participation rate and exceeded our Annual Fund goal. Mariners Christian School is thriving and remains committed to raising up Difference Makers in this world for His Kingdom through our deeply embedded core values of Love for Christ, Exemplary Academics, Whole Child Focus, Connected Community and Culture of Innovation.

I firmly believe that 2018 will also be a monumental year in the legacy of Mariners Christian School as we partner with foundations and faith-based entities to provide the most unique Christ-centered educational experience in the country.

As current MCS parents, you play a vital role in the planning for the 2018-2019 school year. Given our commitment to the financial stewardship of our school, the re-enrollment data of our current families and those in the Admissions process will inform our early spring budgetary decision-making for the 2018-2019 school year. Your commitment to tuition dollars by re-enrolling your children will set the course for teacher contracts and whole child programming. This year our re-enrollment fee will remain at $500, but we want to emphasize that MCS operating expenses do not diminish upon the departure of a student during the course of the school year. We trust that with the $500 re-enrollment fee, you are making a firm commitment for the entire school year. We make yearlong commitments to staff and other contracts based in large part on re-enrollment numbers. In the event of a withdrawal, we will require full tuition through the student's final enrollment day at MCS (calculated on a daily basis). Then, to partially compensate for the lost tuition, we require a payment of 10% of the annual tuition. To avoid the 10% penalty, written notice of withdrawal needs to be received by MCS no later than May 1, 2018 (prior to staff contract renewals). This is a change from this year's agreement so we want to be clear in our communication about it. If you have questions about this change please do not hesitate to ask us.

The MCS Board, Board Finance Committee and Administration are EXCITED to announce that our tuition increase for the 2018-2019 school year will be significantly less than the last two years (average of 5.8%). This year our tuition increase will be 3.9% and our re-enrollment fee will remain steady at $500. Click here to view the 2018-2019 Schedule of Fees. For your convenience, we have also enclosed the 2017-2018 Schedule of Fees.

The first day of school for 2018-2019 is Wednesday, September 5, 2018 with Meet the Teacher Day on Tuesday, September 4th. Our complete calendar is available here.

We are praying over your family's re-enrollment commitment to MCS. The deadline to re-enroll is February 23, 2018 to ensure a seat for your child. The MCS staff counts it a privilege to serve your family in a dynamic Christian educational experience.

Please look for a separate letter from our Admissions Director Ashlee Cowell which will include re-enrollment instructions and links. The letter will be emailed later today.
