Hey Canada! Remember the #GivingTuesdayCA story from last week? If you don't remember, it it was about Jennifer Garcia and her search for resources when her son, Bryan, who was excluded from puberty classes at school. Here is Chapter 2!
Chapter 2:

Hi, this is Jennifer again, Bryan's mom. Last week  I told you about how the school board did not include Bryan in puberty classes because they didn't have the resources, and didn't think it was necessary.

Bryan was sad that he was kept out of a class with his classmates. We were upset that he did not have the same access as his peers, to important information about respect, trust, safety and of course sexuality.

So I went online to find resources to help Bryan. The Canadian Down Syndrome Society's resources had helped us a lot when we were new parents  and when Bryan started school .

Perhaps they could help us again now that Bryan was a teen.

Last year, they released Mind and Body: Answers to your Questions . According to the site, the book explores questions about relationships, sexual health, safety, and growing up that people with Down syndrome and other developmental disabilities may have.

I just ordered our copy and I really hope it'll be helpful to Bryan. I'll tell you all about it when it arrives!

Would you like to help more teens and self-advocates like Bryan and their families get Mind and Body delivered to their door? Keep following the Garcia family's story and learn more about how you can support #GivingTuesdayCA

Stay tuned for Chapter 3 of the Garcia family's story!
