A Message from Religious School Principal, Lois Tompkins
AHH...Passover!  My favorite holiday (except for all of the cleaning!).  We are now in Pesach mode in school.  Students are practicing prayers and tunes for Passover in class, and we are working very hard on making our BASRS haggadah together, which we will use for our model seders.

Here is the schedule for special programs, coming soon:
Wednesday, April 13:  Model seder ( for students only) in grades 2-6.   We will provide dinner that evening as a part of the seder; no need to send dinner with your child that night.  Kids will be bringing home their haggadot and some other fun goodies!  This is a fun but very important experiential learning event - please try your best to get the kids to school on time as it will take up the entire 2 hours.

7th grade students will be bringing home permission slips for a trip that will take place that evening.  We have made it a tradition for all of our 7th graders to create amazing Passover pottery at Doing Dishes (Lakewood Plaza) each year.  More information is coming home on Sunday.

Sunday, April 17:  Parents of Kindergarten and 1st graders are invited to join us as we enjoy a model seder of our own!  I will lead a short, age-appropriate seder, beginning at 10:30 am.  Please drop your students off at 9:00 so that they can prepare, and come back to join us at 10:30.   I'll include fun tips for young families, and you'll also receive our Religious School Haggadah as a keepsake as well as a few other surprises.  I will be asking for RSVPs so that I know we will have enough room and goodies.

Chag Sameach!

A Wonderful Purim Carnival!
With several hundred in attendance, this year's Purim Carnival was bigger and better! Celebrities, Spiderman, Elsa and Ana were on hand to greet guests as they entered the carnival on the red carpet. The excitement kept building as the paparazzi cameras flashed...and that was just the beginning.  Along with fun carnival games and bounce houses, kids of all ages (yes, we have the photos to prove it!) had a blast on the Monkey Motion Jump, Zorbals, Jousting and even a mechanical bull!  A petting zoo and p ony rides rounded out the picture perfect weather day.  In addition to all the fun, there was a tzedakah component with money raised to benefit Memories of Love (via the dunk tank) and water conservation (via sales of reusable water bottles).  A big TODAH RABAH to Emily Spector and Simon Schuster, event co-chairs, and their team for putting together the biggest and best Purim Carnival yet!  Check out all the pictures from the event HERE!
