Please Welcome Ranie Neislar

On behalf of Saint Paul's Vestry, staff and clergy, I am overjoyed to announce that Ranie Neislar is joining our staff to serve our middle and high school youth as Coordinator of Youth Ministries (part time)! Ranie will principally work to develop our ministries with youth, recruiting and supporting youth mentors and teachers in the parish, and directly leading EYC programs.

Ranie and her husband, Dr. John Hayes, are faithful members and parish leaders at Saint Augustine's of Canterbury. For several years Ranie has served Saint Augustine's youth, guiding them to deeply engage their faith and beliefs while growing tightly knit bonds of friendship and community. She also serves as Missioner at Columba House Augusta, an Episcopal intentional community where young adults can explore spirituality through dialogue, prayer, and service.
Born and raised in Athens, GA., Ranie earned her BA in History at the University of Georgia and is currently working towards a Master of Divinity through Lutheran Theological Seminary in Columbia, SC. She is an avid runner and tennis player who loves reading theology and debating the meaning of life (sometimes all at the same time!).

Please look for Ranie this Sunday and give her a warm welcome to Saint Paul's.

Yours in Christ,

Fr. Jenkins

A Report from the Senior Warden

I am pleased to report that we have six nominees for the three Vestry positions that we will fill at our upcoming annual meeting.  The election will be held at our annual meeting on January 24 th and those elected will be affirmed and take office on Easter Monday as provided by our colonial charter.

The nominees are Catherine Boardman, Charlie Enicks, Allen Harison, Chip Lamb, John Luther, and John Robertson.  This is an incredibly talented group and we are thankful for their willingness to serve in this important capacity.  This slate is reflective of the energy and vitality that is Saint Paul's today!

To the nominees - Please get your picture and bio to Elizabeth by Monday so that we can meet our deadline for publishing the annual report.

Blessings,

Monty

Register for Happening Weekend  (Youth grades 10 -12)
January 29-31, 2016,  Honey Creek

Happening #96 will be held at Honey Creek January 29-31, 2016, and is open to those in grades  10 - 12. During a Happening weekend, participants worship, play, sing, and talk about God's place in their lives. They make new friends who share similar concerns and questions - a reassuring discovery. A teenager who acts as "rector" leads the weekend with the help of a staff consisting mostly of young people. Some staff members give challenging talks, after which there's time for discussion and activity. Together, the staff and participants share in an exploration of the impact of Christian faith in their daily lives. Happeners who attend a weekend for their first time are called "Candidates." To be a Candidate, one must have completed the 9th grade and have not begun college, and fill out the application linked below. For more information on Happening, please visit the Georgia Happening website.

Happening costs $100 to attend, and financial assistance is available. Those seeking a scholarship will need to contact our Interim Missioner for Youth, Rebekah Stewart, at (912) 236-4279 prior to registration.
