Worship this week, April 7th

Dr. Susan DeHoff's sermon is "Peace" based on John 20.19-29. Perhaps the sentence Jesus uttered that I most wish I had heard him say is, "Peace be with you." Four one-syllable words, and yet all our needs and all the needs of our world are summed up in that short sentence. We are accustomed to praying for peace, meaning relief from political strife and sometimes from disharmony in our relationships as well. Jesus certainly would include that meaning of peace in his sentence, but he would include so much more. We will explore the many meanings of peace in the statement Jesus spoke to his disciples on that first Easter.
