Tables for $1,000 donation or seats for a donation of $125 remain for those who want to see and vote for their favorite local "celebrities" from Tifton, Albany and Valdosta.

The event is a key fundraising initiative for the Alzheimer's Association, Georgia Chapter, and is one of seven held around the state each spring. All funds raised go toward supporting statewide services and vital research toward a cure in the fight against Alzheimer's disease.

Ray Cross of Tifton is the "dancing star" currently in the lead with nearly $16,000 raised for the Alzheimer's Association.

Tifton's J.J. Jackson, owner of Dance King JJ Productions of Tifton, will be a judge in the event,

Miss Georgia

along with the reigning Miss Georgia, Carly Mathis of Leesburg, and Valdosta's Jeani Synyard. The event will mimic an episode of ABC TV's Dancing with the Stars and will include food, drinks, dancing performances, and fun for attendees.

 "We anticipate a fun, glitzy, sparkly event for an important cause," said Dan Phillips, regional development director of the Alzheimer's Association. The South Georgia Region represents 35 counties surrounding Tift. Hosts of the show are WALB TV's Karla Heath-Sands and Ben Roberts.

The program will have two judging categories: the Judges' Selection -- determined at the event by the judge's scoring -- and the People's Choice -- determined by the number of votes/dollars raised by each couple through pre-voting and voting during the event.

Shroyer's professional partner is Hannah Moore, co-owner of MotionDance Studio in Valdosta. Tifton dancers are: Ray Cross, paired with Angie Stoecker; attorney Sandy Sims and Gail Barnard; Katie Tenneson with Dr. Joe Lewis, under the tutelage of Michelle Oakes of Albany. 

Albany area dancers are veterinarian Dr. Haley Hydrick Clark of Leesburg with Ashley Helton, Paige Harrell with Steven Cantrell, Emily Plummer with Tony Mangiapane, and April Reardon with Gary Fowler. Charleston Carter of Albany and Tifton is dancing with Serena Garcia of Atlanta.
