Battery Recharge

Greetings from Philadelphia on a rainy Saturday morning. We are here for John Carroll Weekend, the annual Georgetown University gathering for alumni and friends of Georgetown. It is a bit of a traveling road show — it was in Dublin last year. I kicked off a “BellRinger” ride on Friday and am attending the Board of Regents GUMC update today. Needless to say, I don’t need to take any of the many wonderful tours that are being offered! Read more.

Harry Sun (C’26), a biology major in the College of Arts & Sciences, has worked in the lab of Georgetown Lombardi member Anton Wellstein, MD, PhD, since his sophomore year. His cancer research experiences there, as well as at UConn and NIH, led him to be named a 2025 Goldwater Scholar, a prestigious national award for the next generation of scientists, researchers and engineers. Read more about this news.

Input Requested on NSG Mouse Model

The AMSR Rodent Core is moving forward with establishing a breeding colony of NOD-SCID-gamma ko (NSG) mice to make these mice more readily available to researchers and at a reduced cost. In order to determine an appropriately sized colony and to establish a baseline for anticipated needs, the Core needs to know who is interested in acquiring and using this strain of mice. Please contact Patricia Foley at pf418@georgetown.edu to discuss.

National Science Foundation Research Security Update

The National Science Foundation has posted a webpage dedicated to informing federally funded organizations and individuals about research security requirements — including training, international collaborations, policy updates, foreign interference, risk mitigation and other guidelines. Research security protects the integrity, openness and innovation that drive academic discovery while ensuring compliance with federal regulations and institutional policies. Georgetown is committed to fostering a secure and collaborative environment where researchers can thrive while maintaining the highest ethical and security standards.
