April 2, 2025

I will serve joyfully, lead confidently, and inspire others through my faith in Jesus.

Greetings From Mr. Estes...

Dear SASEAS Families,

When  we recently crossed over into the second half of our Lenten journey toward Easter, I found myself evaluating my initial goals for the season and how well I have lived up to my self imposed expectations. For the most part, all is going relatively well; however, there is always room for improvement and/or adjustments along the way. Throughout life, it’s important for all of us to honestly “take stock” of how our journey is proceeding, acknowledge our accomplishments, and make adjustments as needed to create the changes we desire. As adults, we are often tasked with helping young people navigate this process during their developmental years as well. In my experience, young people learn a lot by observing those people who are guiding them. I pray regularly, and invite you to do so as well, for the Holy Spirit to guide the faculty, staff, and other adults in our SASEAS community during our journey together. May we all continue to work together and strive for our actions to be worthy examples for our young people to follow.

As challenging as it is to believe, we are approaching the halfway point of our final trimester as well; midterm reports for grades four through eight will be coming home this Friday. This is a good time for families to review academic progress for the year and for students to make an effort to remain focused and finish well. This can be a challenging time for some students as we near the end of the year and a joint effort between the school and families is even more critical.

It is a busy time of the year for our Church and School communities. As always, please see the reminders section for details concerning upcoming activities.

Make it a great week!

Preschool News

You know what they say about April showers. We are going to have a LOT of May flowers! Due to copious amounts of rain this week, our preschoolers are spending their recess time in the gym.

Mrs. Christina’s classes are learning about Nursery Rhymes this week. They will hear “Humpty Dumpty” and “Mary had a Little Lamb”, and sequence the events of each poem. Their religion lesson this week is about the Good Shepherd.

Mrs. Sheila’s class is learning about ponds. They will study the frog’s lifecycle, learn about turtles, and count with little frogs. They are making an art project entitled “Pond Life” and matching letters to lily pads.

The theme in our four-year-old preschool classes is “Let’s Grow!” as they learn about seeds and plants. Children are making a Sunflower craft in art while studying the parts of a flower. They will learn about the plant life cycle and will plant seeds to find out what plants need in order to grow. In math they are measuring flowers with unifix cubes and ordering flowers by size. Their religion lesson this week is “He’s got the Whole World in His Hands”.

Our five-year-old class is learning about the Farm. They are making number sentences and practicing their counting from 1-20 while “feeding the chickens”. They are learning about the life cycle of the chicken and writing the sentence “Chicks hatch from eggs”. They are reading about Joseph’s coat of many colors in religion this week.

Have a great week!
