Aloha Marci!

What would you do if you had just one day on Maui?

Would you drive the winding Road to Hana? Bask on one of South Maui’s sunny beaches?

Maybe you’d explore the local flavor of historic Wailuku Town, peruse the colorful shops in Paia, or take a drive to the cool Upcountry region.

We hope you have more than one day to spend on Maui. But in case of a short trip, we’ve

created a one-day itinerary that highlights the best of Maui. You can also use this itinerary on a longer trip for a jam-packed day of fun!

Morning

Start your Maui morning in Kihei, home of sunshine and golden beaches. South Kihei is a

popular place to stay on Maui, with a wide variety of condos within a stone’s throw of beaches, snorkeling spots, restaurants, and bars.

Before hitting the beach, dig into delightfully gooey cinnamon rolls from the Cinnamon Roll

Place. Take your grub to-go and head across the street to Kamaole Beach Park II. This silky

strip of sand is bookended by lava points, perfect for a morning snorkel. Locally known as “Kam II,” this beach park also features lifeguards, restrooms, and freshwater showers.

No snorkeling gear? Never fear. You can rent gear at Boss Frog’s Dive & Surf, just steps to the

beach!

Afternoon

Dust the sand off your feet and hop in the car for a mini Maui road trip. Make the short drive

from the south side to the north shore, home to big surf, funky towns, and some of Maui’s best fish plates.

Stop in the colorful seaside town of Paia for shopping and lunch. Paia is one of Maui’s few

historic towns, with vibrant false-front buildings housing everything from tattoo shops and ice cream parlors to chic cafes and local honey stores.

By now, you’ve probably worked up an appetite. That’s a good thing because Paia has some

excellent places to eat. Check out the Paia Fish Market for world-famous fish plates and tacos. This place is one of Maui’s most popular restaurants, so if you don’t feel like waiting in line, check out Flatbread Company for pizza or Cafe Mambo for brunch-style eats.

Evening

For the grand finale, head towards Maalaea — about a 25-minute drive from Paia. Maalaea is

best known as the tour boat hub of Maui. Can you guess your next activity?

Climb aboard a catamaran for a sunset sail in Maalaea Bay. A sunset boat tour is the perfect

way to end a Maui day. In winter, a sunset cruise doubles as a whale watch. Raise a glass to

warm sea breezes, sunset views, and whales breaching in the distance.

If you have extra time before your tour, there’s plenty to do in Maalaea. Check out the Maui

Ocean Center, the largest aquarium in Hawaii (the last entry is at 4 pm). Or, pop into Havens

Harborside for happy hour.

We hope to see you on Maui soon — and for longer than just one day! Planning your next visit? Find a condo and rental car to match your vacation style with Ali’i Resorts. A hui hou – see you soon!
