OUTREACH MEETING

SUN APRIL 6

DONATIONS DUE

In preparation for St. Dunstan’s Easter Egg Hunt, we are asking congregants to bring in individually wrapped, small candies.

At the April 6 Outreach meeting, we will stuff the plastic eggs with the collected confections.

This year, St. Dunstan’s will also be collecting supplies to benefit the Falls Church-McLean Children’s Center (FCMLCC).

Halley Smith, the center’s director, will attend the April 6th Outreach meeting to provide an overview and history of FCMLCC.  At that time, St. Dunstan’s will present the collected supplies to the center. We have been asked to donate the following items for the center's literacy table:

  • stickers
  • post-it notes
  • note paper & envelopes

A basket for the candy and supplies will be at the back of the church. Donations are due by Sunday, April 6. Thank you for your participation!

EASTER FLOWERS

Envelopes for Easter flower donations are available in the Sunday worship bulletin and on the table in the back of the sanctuary.

Flower donations can be made in memory of a loved one or in thanksgiving for any special blessing you wish to recognize. Deadline for donations: Monday, April 14.

The Good News of Church Politics

The Rev. Ross Kane, Ph.D

When we think about politics we often think about the privileged vying for power, we might think about gridlock, frustration, or how little our voices seem to matter. Our obsession with statecraft can both paralyze us and lead us to duplicate the tactics of this exasperating form of politics when we lead our church communities.

The Rev. E. Ross Kane, Ph.D., Associate Professor of Theology, Ethics, and Culture and Director of Doctoral Programs at Virginia Theological Seminary, has good news for us: church politics doesn’t have to work this way! Ross will draw on his book of the same title, combining Scripture, political theology, and personal experience to reframe politics around shaping our common life and loving our neighbors.

Rev. Chris Returns & A Visit From Bishop Ritonia

St. Dunstan's was treated to a visit from Bishop Ann Ritonia on Sunday, March 31 complete with a forum on the Episcopal Church's ministry with the United States military and federal prisons.

St. Dunstan's property and especially the flowering cherry trees greeted them both with a spectacular show of gratitude!
