Join the Highwood Chamber for the first of a series of

Ribbon Cuttings this season!

Ladies Night Out: Run for the Roses

On Thursday, May 1, the Highwood Chamber of Commerce invites you to an evening of Derby-themed excitement, laughter, and community spirit—supporting local businesses and presented by The Bank of Highwood | Fort Sheridan.

From the moment you arrive at City Hall, you’ll be immersed in the energy of the evening. Kick things off with Jamie Kirby of Kirby Fit, who will lead the group in some Derby-style warm-ups to prepare everyone for a fun night. Then, set out to explore fabulous stops throughout Highwood, offering unique Derby-inspired activities, signature sips, and plenty of surprises. Whether you're a seasoned Derby fan or just looking for an excuse to dress up and have fun, this is the perfect opportunity to gather your friends, enjoy a little friendly competition, and discover new favorite spots around town.

Want to make sure your Derby look is on point? Join us at Art Lab on Thursday, April 17, at 5:00 PM for a special ribbon-cutting celebration marking its one-year anniversary in business! Following the festivities, you can decorate your own Derby hat with an array of fun and colorful embellishments. Doreen Avila has stocked up on everything from vibrant birds and feathers to gorgeous silk flowers, generously provided by Julie Brugioni of The Silk Thumb. A fee will apply for hat-making materials, and while Doreen has a limited number of hats available, we encourage you to bring your own to ensure you have the perfect canvas for your creativity. You’ll look fantastic strolling the streets of Highwood—and don’t forget, the best hat will be crowned at our grand finale!

Register here and for more details, follow the Highwood Chamber of Commerce on social media.

The Highwood Chamber commissioned Emmy Award winners Mike Leonard and Mary Kay Wall to create a heartfelt film tribute to Highwood, and now you can enjoy it from the comfort of home! After debuting at our Annual Dinner + Business Celebration and a special showing at City Hall, we’re excited to make it available for home viewing. Watch and share it with others who love Highwood as much as we do!
