“At the Chapel, for Sure!”
The next few weeks at the Chapel are filled with opportunities to get busy and stay busy, while also having some fun and meeting other people.
First, we’ll begin the month of April with “Arts in the Garden” (see more details below), the first in what the Town of LBK hopes to be an annual event that honors our local artists. The Chapel was selected to kick off the month-long celebration and we couldn’t be more excited about it. Thursday, April 3 through Sunday, April 6, will include visual artists from the area displaying their work accompanied by local musicians who will be performing throughout the weekend. A variety of food trucks and vendors will also be present, as well as beverage distributors.
If you are on LBK, we could use your help as a volunteer host to help direct people around the property as needed. This is an easy way to help and we’ll need plenty of volunteers to fill the schedule while the event is taking place on the property.
Second, we are looking for all available helpers to assist the Chapel when our new sanctuary chairs arrive. This is a big project and we will have little notice of the exact arrival date. As such, we are gathering a list of names and contact numbers of volunteers who will be able to help us remove the pews from the sanctuary, unload the chairs from the truck, and steam the new cushions that will have been shrink-wrapped for the voyage to Longboat Key. We expect the chairs to arrive in the next few weeks (before Easter), so if you will be here and might be able to help, please let us know so that we can contact you when the time arrives.
Third, Easter is quickly approaching! Invite someone to attend Easter services at the Chapel. Holy Week begins on Palm Sunday, April 13, which will also include the big Bon Voyage luncheon for our snowbirds. Worship on Palm Sunday is at 10 am and the Bon Voyage party immediately follows. Good Friday is a powerful experience, and this year, we will be hosting a Good Friday worship service on April 18, in the sanctuary at 6 pm. Finally, we arrive on Easter Sunday, April 20. Easter will include a 7 am Sunrise Service in the Garden and worship in the Sanctuary (with orchestra) will begin at 10 am.
Where can you help? Where can you invite a friend or neighbor to help or participate? At the Chapel, for Sure!
God Bless,
Rev. Brock
