Stallions in the Spotlight

Right before we dismissed for Spring Break, our student body gathered for our annual World Cultures Assembly, celebrating the incredible diversity that makes St. Francis DeSales so special! Check out our Instagram (@SFDStallions) for more photos!

Junior Cindy Li is being recognized this week by the Columbus Dispatch for Student of the Week. Please take a moment to vote for her today! Vote Here.

Congratulations to senior Evie Frazier who is a Westerville Rotary Student of the Month for March.

Junior Roselin Maldonado will compete in the Miss Ohio Latina pageant this Sunday at the Lincoln Theater as Miss Teen Columbus! There is one candidate from each city in Ohio, and she is representing Columbus.

A group of Stallions attended the Salesian Leadership Retreat over Spring Break. Juniors were selected to attend this retreat based on their involvement in Campus Ministry and desire to pursue friendships centered on Christ. Student-leaders created a personal plan of action to integrate their faith into their numerous activities. They return to DeSales empowered to invite their classmates to participate more fully, actively, and consciously. Let’s support this desire of our young people with our prayers!

A highlight of the trip was a special audience with His Eminence Timothy Cardinal Dolan at St. Patrick’s Cathedral.

Chaplain's Corner

Praised be Jesus Christ! As we make our journey through Lent, the Church gives us a couple of days to celebrate. Many celebrated St. Patrick yesterday, but these two other days are to be celebrated with more fervor: March 19th is the Solemnity of St. Joseph, Spouse of the Blessed Virgin Mary, and March 25th is the Solemnity of the Annunciation of the Lord. We first celebrate the foster father of Jesus, who guides, protects, and raises the Word made Flesh. Then, on the 25th, we celebrate the Annunciation of the angel Gabriel to the Blessed Virgin that she would bear the Word made Flesh. (BTW, what other event do we celebrate 9 months later?)

Through these celebrations, we are reminded that even in Lent, as we bear our struggles against sin and selfishness, there is a time to remember the goodness of the Lord - that He became a human like us and had human parents like us. Let us ask the Blessed Virgin Mary and her spouse, St. Joseph, for their prayers as we continue our Lenten journey.

Spiritual Reflection

Jesus, you taught the crowd and your disciples that whoever was to be the greatest among them would be their servant. May all leaders be inspired by your example of humility, seeking not to exalt themselves at the expense of others, but rather to serve and support those under their care. Amen.
