Fill the Truck this April!

The Ocean Shores IGA is sponsoring a unique food drive next month to help put food on the shelves of our local food banks. Called "Fill the Truck," this event will give IGA shoppers the opportunity to purchase and donate "most-needed food items" that will go right to work feeding local families. A list of these items will be available at the store, and special tags will be placed on the shelves to help shoppers identify them. 


This event will support the Ocean Shores and Copalis food banks. The dates are April 9th through the 11th for the Copalis Food Bank and April 13th through the 15th for Ocean Shores.


We hope to see you there as we work together to "Fill the Truck" and help ensure that no one in our community goes hungry!

6th Annual Plant Sale Coming May 3rd

How You Can Help


In preparation for our upcoming Sixth Annual Plant Sale on May 3rd, we ask that you keep the food bank in mind if you are able to donate any garden/yard related items such as potting soil, pots, plants (indoor or outdoor), gardening tools and accessories, yard art items or gardening books. If you have any questions regarding donating items to help contribute to the success of this fundraiser, please contact Kathy Baker at 253-332-7583.

While guests were waiting to shop, a volunteer overheard a conversation between two guests. One mentioned saving a seat for her friend, explaining that she had met her best friend at the food bank a couple of years ago. Since then, they have become close and now regularly spend time together outside the food bank as well—a friendship that brings her much joy.


Many lasting friendships are made at the food bank—among guests and volunteers. There is something about service, about working together to ensure that all are served, that everyone in our community has access to healthy nutritional food for their family that truly brightens the spirit.

At the Ocean Shores Food Bank our volunteers make sure that every guest feels welcomed and valued. They get repaid in smiles and the feeling that they have made a lasting impression on those who reach out to us for help keeping nutritious food on the family table.


Everyone—volunteers, donors, and the guests themselves—come together each week to make our food bank a place of camaraderie, mutual assistance, and hope.
