TASTE SOME OF OUR FAVORITE VALUES FROM CALIFORNIA TOMORROW FROM 1-4pm

When we complain about ever rising prices domestic wines certainly aren't exempt. Tomorrow, we'll sample you on four diverse examples that represent tremendous value for the money, none of which you would call brands. So come in to Mt. Carmel Wine & Spirits Co. this Saturday, February 22nd, from 1-4pm and bring the gang. It's free to all so please stop by!

get acquainted with an old favorite

2022 Don Ramon, Campo de Borja Spain

If you've been a long-time customer of ours you may have recalled how much we liked Don Ramon, which had always been of our best-selling reds. So why did it get forgotten? Perhaps it was because we were touting so many other new wines that it became somewhat forgotten, or that they updated their well-recognized tan label for a bright yellow one. Regardless, when we decided to use it in last Saturday's tasting both we and our customers came to the same conclusion: the wine's still really good! This mellow blend of 70% Garnacha and 30% Tempranillo is loaded with rich fruit and finishes with gentle tannins. This is what it always was, perhaps our best red bargain in the store.

$8.99 ($13.99 sugg.)

GRAB THESE CLOSEOUTS BEFORE THEY'RE GONE

We were able to get more, now at a new lower price

2023 Petit Bourgeois Rose de Pinot Noir, Loire Valley France

Henri Bourgeois is one of the Loire Valley's most noted producers of Sancerre. This Petit Bourgeois is absolutely delicious, displaying its Pinot Noir character as well as or better than any other Pinot Noir Rose we've come across. It's intriguingly fruity but dry, with a delicious finish that is unmistakably Pinot Noir. It was a great deal at its original price but we're now offering it at a price that's just silly.

$6.99 (was $14.99) only 12 cases left

2021 Cesconi Pinot Bianco

Cescon's vineyards are located in Italy's beautiful Dolomites. Their organically produced Pinot Bianco is mellow but dry with hints of pear and white tree fruit. It's enjoyable on its own but goes perfectly with light meat dishes, seafood, and white pasta sauces.

$7.99 (was 18.99) only 3 cases left!

2012 Vino di Vittorio Sangiovese, Marche Italy

If you enjoyed the Angelini Sangiovese it might come as sad news that we're finally out of it. But we are happy to present another one that's just as perfectly matured. 8% Merlot and 2% Pergola Rosso was added to the Sangiovese and aged in large oak casks. The fruit is true to the varietal with attractive sour cherry flavors, soft tannins, and perfect balance. It will be delightful to drink over coming year.

$6.99 (was $20.99) while they last!

Regine Baron Rose Brut Perle Champagne

Another great choice for Valentine's Day. Regine Baron is a relatively new house (established 1974) in the Marne Valley of Champagne. The quality of this Rose Champagne belies our sale price. Comprised of Pinot Meunier, Chardonnay, and Pinot Noir, it is unmistakably Champagne in both the quality and character, the kind that could only come from Champagne. While it's a true Brut it has generous fruit and no shortage of flavor. While Regine Baron isn't exactly a household name here it is very popular in Europe, especially in Germany and Belgium.

Special Holiday price: $29.99 (44.99 suggested)

2023 Contordine Contramano Nebbiolo, Colline Novarese Italy

In Italy contramano means to drive the wrong way down a one-way street, and Colline Novarese's take on Piedmontese Nebbiolo certainly runs counter to how most producers typically treat the grape. The juice was sourced from a 6 acre vineyard in the Alto Piemonte, close to Boca. The Nebbiolo grapes are partially fermented whole cluster over 3 weeks to impart bright fruit and then a small portion of Rose made from Croatina is added and then aged on its lees. The result is atypical and downright delicious, brimming with bright vibrant Nebbiolo fruit. What's even more impressive is that the wine still has Nebbiolo's richness and structure.
