Spotlight on KDC
For 35 years, KDC has developed some of the most impressive corporate headquarters and mixed-use projects in the country - several of which are right here in Richardson! Along with the support of Richardson’s top officials, KDC has developed more than 5.3 million square feet of office space within the city limits for best-in-class companies including Nortel, Fossil, Blue Cross and Blue Shield, State Farm, and Raytheon. The portfolio also includes Richardson Data Center, State Farm Data Center and Digital Realty Data Centers. In total, the City of Richardson and KDC partnership has resulted in 25 buildings in the last 25 years.
One of the most notable projects is CityLine. The City of Richardson embraced KDC’s vision to turn 186 vacant acres near the intersection of President George Bush Turnpike and Central Expressway into a vibrant mixed-use development. Anchored by State Farm’s regional hub and Raytheon’s state-of-the-art office complex, this live-work-play hot spot is a true success story. CityLine features everything from urban residential, 50 dining and retail options, an Aloft Hotel, Whole Foods, green space, public art, and much more.

Spotlight on Methodist Richardson Medical Center
Methodist Richardson Medical Center continues to grow to help meet the needs of our communities.
When it opened in 2014, the hospital was four stories, had 125 beds, 8 operating rooms, two cardiac catheterization labs and about 900 employees. Today, Methodist Richardson is six stories, has three cath labs, 9 ORs, 387 beds and almost 2,500 employees.
“The meteoric success of Methodist Richardson is due to the growth and success of our surrounding communities,” says President Ken Hutchenrider. “We have prepared for the future with a strategic master plan that reacts to the evolving needs of the communities we serve.”
In 2018, Methodist Richardson underwent an $85 million expansion that included the 104,000 square foot addition of floors 5 & 6, with 150 new, all-private acute care suites. The project also added the hospital’s ninth operating room and a seven-story parking garage.
Last year, the hospital wrapped a $46 million dollar expansion of the Emergency Department, Lab and Pharmacy, along with the completion of the hospital’s fifth floor. Next up? Construction of 3 new OR’s and an ambulatory surgery center to enhance outpatient procedures.
Methodist Richardson is designated as a Level III Trauma Center, as well as a Comprehensive Stroke Center. The hospital’s specialties include cardiology, orthopedics, complex GI, neurosurgery and world-class cancer treatment.
It’s the care you can trust, right where you need it.
