Meet Crabberry!

Thanks for Naming our Education Crab!

Last month we asked you to vote on names for our new Education Department crab friend. Students who visited the MOV in December were asked for suggestions, we picked our favourites and asked you to voteand you certainly did!

We had over 200 votes and 30.6% of them were for Crabberry, with Pinchers (28.6%) and Salty (20.4%) rounding out the top three choices. Congratulations to Kathleen and Gabrielle, whose names were drawn to win tickets to the Museum.

Crabberry has already made an appearance in the 2024-2025 Education brochures and in ads and social posts related to what students on field trips to the MOV (or online) learn.

Crabberry has been seen learning online, practicing French and digging as part of our archeology related programs. Learn more about our school and youth group programs here.

Thanks again to the students at Crescent Heights Academy, Stratford Hall and Trafalgar Elementary School for the name suggestions!

Share Your Long COVID Story

Photo Project to be Part of MOV Exhibition this Autumn

The Museum of Vancouver has partnered with Simon Fraser University and the Provincial Health Services Authority's Long COVID Interdisciplinary Clinical Care Network to launch the photo-based project: A Day in the Life of a Longhauler. The project will then become the basis for an exhibition at the MOV, opening in the Fall of 2025.

The exhibition will showcase the wins, challenges and daily moments of people across Canada navigating life after a COVID-19 infection—enhancing visibility, reducing stigma and advocating for improved support for those living with Long COVID.

Want to share your perspective? If you’re dealing with long-term symptoms or have a Long COVID diagnosis, you’re invited to share up to six photos from your everyday life. Find more info and submit your photos by April 30, 2025 here.
