Questions?

Thank you for attending our February Office Hours!

Thank you for attending our Office Hours on February 12th. With it being the week before vacation, it was a small group. We totally understand; so much is going on! As always, these are voluntary opportunities to learn, share, and connect with others who are doing the impactful work that you are.

In the month of March, we'll go back to two sessions; one in the afternoon, one in the morning, and on different days to meet your various schedules. Feel free to drop in, arrive late, leave early, attend both, or attend neither. These are here for you!

Below are some of the slides that we shared:

  • Providers have had 588 student sessions!
  • 37% of the total sessions were initial sessions
  • 40% of the students have enrolled in MLMQ
  • Students voluntarily attended 44% of the sessions

Also, take a look at the Student Feedback slides. Their shares are super powerful!

Ideas to Share

Althea Turner at South Portland High School shared that some of her students find "sensory oral fixation tools" to be effective in helping them with their cravings. These tools help to replace the oral aspect teens are missing when they don't have a vape in their mouth. Great idea!

Nicki Hudson at Lake Region High School includes student-made motivational messages in their Quit Kits along with an extra fun fidget and gum/hard candies. Way to go LRHS!

Do you have an idea, picture, or quote to share? If so, you can send it to Celena.Ranger@mainehealth.org

Materials, Resources & More

During February's Office Hours, Althea from South Portland HS shared that some students were struggling with the idea of "quitting", and that when she spoke of "cutting back" it felt less overwhelming to them. To continue with this momentum, Althea wanted to create posters that were aligned with this language. Elizabeth and I began taking her thoughts and putting them in Canva. See a draft in panel #1.

In addition, we tossed around the idea of creating posters with 2023 MIYHS data and student quotes/feedback that have been shared by all of you. See the example in panel #3 for positive social norming.

So, we're wondering, is this something that you would like? Reach out to us and let's talk about some ideas for promotional flyers that we can work on together. It could even be customized with your school colors and/or logo.

Lastly, you can use the MLMQ glass clings along with the posters to give students multiple support options.
