As we honor Women’s History Month, we are proud to spotlight two remarkable leaders and cherished partners of Mission Africa: Pastor Derozette Banks and Pastor Jamina L. Smith. Both women exemplify service, strength, and community leadership in powerful ways.
Pastor Derozette, lovingly known as Pastor D, co-leads Overcomer Covenant Church in Auburn with her husband, Gordon—home to Mission Africa’s annual Smiles at Christmas Toy & Coat Drive and Back-to-School Community Event. A global humanitarian and founder of H.E.R. – Healed, Empowered & Resolute, Pastor D uplifts women worldwide through mentorship and empowerment. She holds the title of Mrs. Washington America 2024, inspiring others with her strength, elegance, and heart for service. Despite her busy schedule, Pastor D has personally volunteered at Mission Africa outreach events since 2013 and has remained a steadfast source of inspiration to both our team and the communities we serve.
Pastor Jamina leads alongside her husband, Jermaine, at Live Life Church in Renton. She serves as Executive Director of InUlink, a nonprofit empowering BIPOC youth through education, mentorship, and global outreach. You can often find her walking side by side with the dedicated Live Life Church volunteers who serve at Mission Africa’s Smiles at Christmas Toy & Coat Drive and Back-to-School Community Event. Live Life Church has also graciously hosted youth summer camps, health fairs, and other vital community programs—further showing their commitment to partnership and purpose.
These women are more than leaders—they are true friends of Mission Africa, walking with us in faith, action, and unwavering support.
