When Peter preached on the day of Pentecost, “those who received his word were baptized, and there were added that day about three thousand souls” (Act 2:41). On Sunday, we have many people being baptized at Calvary. About 100 people are presently attending the membership classes. God is at work!
There are no apostles at Calvary, but we do preach the “apostles’ teaching” and are committed to proclaiming the glorious Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. The biblical pattern is very clear: the Gospel is preached, people are saved, those saved are baptized, and those baptized are added to the church. Those added to the church are taught the Word of God and have fellowship, break bread, and pray (Acts 2:38–47).
The early church was also characterized by praising God and sharing their faith. In this way, people were not only being saved but were also involved in the process of being and making authentic followers of Jesus Christ. Rejoice as God is bringing people from all over the world to us who are coming to Christ, being baptized, growing in their faith, and telling others!
