The Shop of St. Philip's

Our thrift shop gets ever more popular! With our visible location and generous donors, we find ourselves bustling every weekend. Our volunteers are working overtime to process donations and take care of customers. Right now, we could really use a few more volunteers who can work the cash register at the front desk. We work in three-hour shifts on either Thursday, Friday, or Saturday. Could this be the new volunteer opportunity for YOU? Stop by the Shop and we'll talk!

Contemplative Path Way of the Cross

You are invited to walk eight stations of the Cross marked by wooden crosses along the Contemplative Path behind the picnic tables at St. Philip’s community garden. Laminated sheets with meditations for each Station are available at the start of the Path. As you walk, engage your senses and deepen your awareness of the wind, birds, insects, and distant sounds. Take your time and be present with each step as you reflect on the journey. Please return the sheet when finished.

Easter Candy

Our Easter Egg Hunt needs your help!

Although we are not even halfway through Lent, it is time to start preparing for our Easter Egg Hunt. This is always a joyful celebration for our children (through 5th grade) on Easter morning, and you can participate by donating candy to stuff the eggs. Please help us by bringing bags of individually wrapped candy to the church office. Individual pieces of candy must be small enough to fit inside the plastic eggs! There will be a large Easter basket in the office where you may leave your donations. Thank you so much!

A little something extra!
Annunciation

Mary said "Yes!"

The Annunciation (March 25) can be summed up in many ways, but the easiest is a simple "Mary said 'yes!'" And today is a day of celebration in the middle of Lent - an excuse to set aside those Lenten penances for one day only in order to celebrate the Mystery of the Incarnation, when the Angel Gabriel came to Mary and announced the Lord's plans for her. Mary's answer ("Yes!") is the Magnificat ("My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord...")

This day, which forecasts the birth of Jesus as Christmas, illustrates how our liturgical year is an endless circle of days. So an appropriate family celebration could be an angel food cake baked in a tube pan, iced in blue - to honor the Angel Gabriel, the Circle of the Church Year, and the Virgin Mary, all in one fell swoop!
