Jeremiah 17:5-8 The Lord proclaims: Cursed are those who trust in mere humans, who depend on human strength and turn their hearts from the Lord. They will be like a desert that doesn't know when relief comes. They will live in the parched places of the wilderness, in a barren land where no one survives.
Happy are those who trust in the Lord, who rely on the Lord. They will be like trees planted by the streams, whose roots reach down to the water.
They won't fear drought when it comes; their leaves will remain green. They won't be stressed in the time of drought or fail to bear fruit.
Psalm 84:5-10 Those who put their strength in you are truly happy; pilgrimage is in their hearts. As they pass through the Baca Valley, they make it a spring of water. They go from strength to strength, until they
see the supreme God in Zion. Lord God of heavenly forces, hear my prayer; listen closely, Jacob's God!
Look at our shield, God; pay close attention to the face of your anointed one! Better is a single day in your courtyards than a thousand days anywhere else! I would prefer to stand outside the entrance of my God's
house than live comfortably in the tents of the wicked!
Philippians 4:4-9 Be glad in the Lord always! Again I say, be glad! Let your gentleness show in your treatment of all people. The Lord is near. Don't be anxious about anything; rather, bring up all of your requests to God in your prayers and petitions, along with giving thanks. Then the peace of God which exceeds all understanding will keep your hearts and minds safe in Christ Jesus.
From now on, brothers and sisters, if any thing is excellent and if anything is admirable, focus your hearts on these things: all that is true, all that is holy, all that is just, all that is pure, all that is lovely, and all that is worthy of praise.
John 11:21-27 Martha said to Jesus, “Lord, if you had been here, my brother wouldn't have died. Even now I know that whatever you ask God, God will give you.” Jesus said to her, “Your brother will rise again.” Martha replied, “I know that he will rise in the resurrection on the last day.” Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me will live, even though they die. Everyone who lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?” She replied, “Yes, Lord, I believe that your
are the Christ, God's Son, the one who is coming into the world.”
