On Friday, January 3rd, a Caring Partners mission team headed to Guatemala. The healthcare providers on our team consisted of four medical doctors, one chiropractic physician, a nurse practitioner, a pharmacist, a Cedarville University PharmD student, and a Miami U. nursing student. The remaining team members were Caring Partners staff members, laypeople, and students and staff from Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy.
As Caring Partners serves on the mission field, we are always joined by a group of local volunteers - the church congregation, translators, and healthcare providers. Thanks to years of prayer and hard work by Caring Partners' Guatemalan National Directors Helmuth & Olga Marroquin, our group of volunteers in the community of El Cerrito, Guatemala this January was our largest volunteer team ever!
Another unique aspect of this trip - serving with two partner churches at the same location. Helmuth & Olga had received a request to host a clinic from a church in a village several miles outside of El Cerrito. Logistics proved difficult to host a clinic in that community, so on Sunday afternoon at our clinic in El Cerrito, the village church came to serve alongside the El Cerrito church in the Clinic of the Soul, bringing many members of their village with them to receive both physical and spiritual healing!
Eight hundred and twenty patients were treated during our clinic week, receiving primary care checkups, vision screenings & eyeglasses, physical therapy and chiropractic treatments, as well as vitamins and medications. But most importantly, 820 patients heard a clear presentation of the Gospel message, and 66 made a profession of faith in Jesus Christ - to God be the glory, great things He has done!
"If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any many serve me, him will my Father honour" John 12:26
