Spring began on March 20 this year, even if the weather doesn’t seem like it. The season brings us longer hours of sunlight, warmer temperatures and a sense of renewal. It is the time that our thoughts go to rebirth, rejuvenation, renewal, resurrection and regrowth. Our spiritual life goes through a period of renewal with the culmination of our Lord’s resurrection on Easter.
We have used springtime to get our physical house in order as well. How many of us have taken inventory of our own personal possessions and done some spring cleaning of our at home? The same is true for our parish. We have a great group of individuals that come together and take care of all those things that need to be tended to, in order to ensure a beautiful, welcoming campus.
This year we will be having our Spring Cleanup on April 26 from 8 am to 12 pm. We will be spreading mulch, tending to a number of our flower gardens and berms and cleaning other outside areas around our buildings. If you can’t make it for the entire time, please come for however long you can help. Many hands make light work. You may want to bring gloves, rakes and/or a shovel. I would like to thank Bob Bluhm for coordinating this year’s spring cleanup!
If you are looking for something different and have an interest in gardening, we may have the perfect fit for you. Sue Walton and her team of gardeners plant and maintain the large planters as well as other gardens around the parish. They have done an outstanding job of beautifying the entrances to church, school and offices. This creates a welcoming environment for all who enter. Recently, a funeral director commented that he likes coming to St. Anthony on the Lake as the entrance is always so beautiful and comforting to the families that have lost a loved one.
