Notice Regarding Masks

To protect the health and well-being of all patients and staff, we are requiring anyone experiencing respiratory or flu-like symptoms to wear a mask while visiting our offices. This precaution helps reduce the spread of illness and ensures a safer environment for everyone.

Masks are available at our reception desks if needed. Thank you for helping us maintain a healthy and safe space for our community. If you have any questions or need assistance, please contact us before your visit.

Tis the Season...

for Weather-Related Closures

It is that time of year when we closely watch the forecast for winter weather. As we have already experienced this year, inclement weather may require us to delay opening, close early, or close for the entire day in consideration of patient and staff safety. If this occurs, we will communicate the closure to patients through the following:

  • On the WCHC website
  • On WCHC social media (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn)
  • Via text message to all scheduled patients
  • A direct call from a staff member to scheduled patients whose appointments are affected

In addition, please note that any modification to our schedule also includes the pharmacy and Labcorp located at our Conowingo site. The safety of our patients and our staff are our highest priority when making these decisions, so while we know that these closures can be an inconvenience, we appreciate your patience and understanding when they do occur.

Community Connections

Cecil Night in Annapolis

WCHC participated in the Cecil County Chamber of Commerce's Cecil Night in Annapolis event held on January 9. This annual event is held at the begining of each session of the Maryland legislature to provide an opportunity for members of the Cecil County business community to interact with members of the legislature and members of the Governor's team. ChristianaCare Community Baby Shower

We were honored to participate in ChristianaCare's Community Baby Shower held in December. This event featured educational resources, healthcare guidance, and connections to essential services aimed at fostering healthy pregnancies, healthy babies, and healthy families. Attendees had the opportunity to visit resource tables from various organizations, tour Labor & Delivery, and receive fun giveaways.

WCHC Partners with Cecil & Harford Schools During Holidays

We were honored to partner with Conowingo Elementary and Havre de Grace Elementary to make this season a little bit brighter through WCHC's second annual gift drive. Thanks to the incredible generosity of our amazing staff, numerous children in our community had an extra special holiday season.

The Maryland Food Bank Mobile Market will be at Conowingo Baptist Church in Conowingo (151 Rock Springs Rd.) on the following Tuesday dates from 12-2PM (while supplies last!). We will once again be joined by the Cecil County Public Library Bookmobile at the Mobile Market this month!

Human Trafficking Prevention Month

January is Human Trafficking Prevention Month. Human trafficking involves the exploitation of people through force, fraud, or coercion, and it can affect individuals in every community. Here are some basic safety tips to help stay safe and support efforts to combat human trafficking:

Be Cautious Online: Avoid sharing personal information on social media or with unfamiliar contacts. Traffickers often use online platforms to target individuals.

Trust Your Instincts: If a situation or person makes you uncomfortable, prioritize your safety and seek help.

Know the Signs: Learn to recognize red flags, such as someone showing signs of fear, being controlled by another person, or having limited access to identification or personal belongings.

Report Suspicious Activity: If you suspect trafficking, contact the National Human Trafficking Hotline at 1-888-373-7888 or text “HELP” to 233733.

Cervical Cancer Awareness Month

January marks Cervical Cancer Awareness Month, highlighting the importance of early detection and preventive care. More than 11,000 people in the United States are diagnosed with cervical cancer each year. The good news: vaccination and regular screening can prevent the disease.

Cervical cancer is one of the most preventable types of cancer, thanks to regular screenings like Pap tests and the availability of the HPV vaccine. These screenings can detect abnormal changes early, often before cancer develops. You can learn more from the CDC about cervical cancer screenings by clicking on the button below this article.

WCHC is committed to supporting women's health at every stage of life. Our providers offer cervical cancer screenings and other essential Women's Health services to help keep you healthy.

Mental Health Matters

Helping to reduce the stigma surrounding mental health.

January is recognized as Mental Wellness Month, where we want to place an even greater focus on maintaining mental health, especially during the winter when shorter days and colder weather can have an affect on your overall mental state.

Staying active during the winter months is a great way to support your mental health by boosting your mood, reducing stress, and improving overall well-being. Physical activity releases endorphins, which are natural mood lifters, and helps combat feelings of sluggishness.

Even in winter, there are plenty of ways to stay active. Consider bundling up for a brisk walk, trying an indoor workout like yoga or strength training, or joining a local gym or fitness class. If outdoor activities appeal to you, options like hiking, snowshoeing, or even playing in the snow with family or pets can be both fun and beneficial. Staying active doesn’t have to be intense—consistent movement, even in small doses, can make a big difference for your mental health.

West Cecil Health Center offers services to support mental wellness. Contact us to learn more or to schedule an appointment. Together, we can prioritize your mental health this winter.

WCHC Behavioral Health is currently accepting new patients for both in-person and telehealth medication management. We are currently on a waitlist for therapy services and are no longer accepting external referrals. If you, or someone you know, are in need of care, please call the office today at 410-378-9696 to schedule.
