Special Music Sunday April 27 - Fauré Requiem

On Sunday, April 27, the Ainsworth Choir and orchestra will present a special musical performance of Gabriel Fauré's Requiem during our 11 am Sanctuary Worship. Be sure to invite a friend to join you for what will be an incredible and moving performance from our talented choir.

A Bicentennial Moment

In anticipation of Mulberry’s upcoming Bicentennial Celebration in 2026, the Leonard Hill Cochran Historical Room presents a moment of Mulberry history.

The following are excerpts from the Council of Ministries meeting of March 13, 1972.

  1. The Hand-Bell Choir to be re-activated.
  2. The family camping weekend is May 5th and 6th.
  3. The Senior High Class cleared between $135 - $150 on the recent spaghetti supper.
  4. Lenten breakfasts continue with 30 on Friday mornings.
  5. Youth Retreat plans for April 14-16 at Wesley Gardens in Savannah.
  6. Vacation Bible School workers are being recruited for a workshop in April.
  7. Youth Activities Week was discussed.
  8. A group is meeting for lunch each Wednesday to discuss Christian beliefs and experiences.
  9. It was suggested that a prayer breakfast for men of Mulberry begin to meet Tuesday April 4th after Easter Sunday.
  10. It was also suggested that the men of the Church sponsor a Sunday evening service during the month of May.
  11. The budget goal is $182,500.  The next Wednesday night supper will have a training session for people who are going to work with on this, pledge cards to be mailed out this week.  Sunday March 26th is Pledge Sunday.
  12. A Study Hall Program with some 60 students and 40 teachers are now working every Thursday night.  It was said the teachers get discouraged at times but it was thought a worthwhile program for the children as they learn that somebody is concerned about them and cares – whether they improves their scholastic skills or not.
  13. It was reported that the outside doors will be re-stained during the next 30 days as the afternoon sun makes this imperative. Plus the Youth Center needs renovation badly; this entrance is used on Wednesday night by many people coming to supper and is a bad image of our church building.
  14. The Solomon Bible Class will once again sponsor Easter Sunrise Services on Coleman Hill.

Morning Prayer of Petition

Holy Lord, this week I remember the great sacrifice you made for me on the cross. Show me where you call me to follow in your footsteps:

  • giving up my pride and ego
  • letting go of material goods to live more simply,
  • sacrificing personal ambition to listen to your call,
  • eschewing immediate gratification for the sake of long-term gain.

As I receive the great gift you offer me on the cross, give me the courage and will to take up my own cross to follow you. Amen.

Evening Prayer of Gratitude

Redeeming God, your sacrifice on the cross brings about life for your creation. Help me to gratefully breath in:

  • hope in place of fear,
  • grace in place of resentment,
  • joy in place of despair,
  • courage in place of fear,
  • calm in place of anxiety.

Open my heart to receive the gift of new life that you are preparing for me in Christ. Amen.
